“Perfect location, great service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

5 stars for location, service, breakfast.

Staff is very friendly, location is perfect, and the breakfast choices are quite extensive (if you like Turkish breakfast).

The breakfast is traditional Turkish fare - assortment of breads, assortment of jams, yogurt, cereal (to eat with yogurt?), assortment of cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, cookies, olives, dried fruits, eggs, etc. We did not like the coffee dispensed from the machine - it tasted like instant coffee.

The location is perfect - about 1/4 mile from Hagia Sophia, Blue mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the underground cistern. There are many places to eat along the way, including a McDonalds about 50 yards away. The tram stop is also about 50 yds.

We stayed in room 501 (a suite with a great view) the first time, which was awesome. This room is large with a big balcony, which allowed us to open the blinds and still have privacy.

When we returned from Cappadocia, we stayed on the 3rd floor, which was (relatively speaking) a letdown, because the hotel is on a narrow street and the room faced a building across the street. Also, the bathroom in this room was very small - slightly larger than the bathrooms I have seen in Japanese hotels.

The street is somewhat noisy, but the sound insulation is quite good, so cannot hear much noise once the windows are shut.

Overall it is a great place to stay.

The rooms are clean.

Room Tip: Room 501 is one of the best - it has a big balcony and overlooks the Bosphorus bridge and Blue Mosqu...

Decent hotel just on a great location. Tram stop 2 minute walk and Aya Sofya and Blue Mosque on your doorstep. Helpful staff at reception and restaurant.
Good breakfast on rooftop overlooking Blue Mosque.
Good value for money, shared 1 room with 4 of us.

Room Tip: Room at the back might be quieter. We had one at the front with quite some traffic so sleeping with...

This is a thank you note from Asma and Arshad Mahmood from Canada. We just stayed at this hotel (Room 504 Dec 11-16th, 2012) and loved every moment of our stay. These guys were extremely helpful, friendly and went beyond their call of duty to make our stay a memorable one. Thanks to their restaurant people who prepared fried eggs for me when they weren't on the menu, front office when they lent me the shoe for my electrical hookups, the attendant who told us where local people shopped and the massage chairs that were a great idea in the lobby. This hotel is ideally located within 5 minutes walk from anywhere, inexpensive and worth every single penny we spent there. I will not think of staying anywhere else when I go to Istanbul next time.

Room Tip: Each room has excellent views, balconies, comfortable beds, fridge, tv, dresser, etc. Some rooms are...

What a fantastic hotel, staff were very helpful even to the point of offering us a free breakfast on the morning of our arrival whilst we were waiting to check in. Rooms were excellent and view from dining room terrace has to be one of the best.
one thing that did happen though and a tip for you all..... ensure that when booking your transfer with the hotel you emphasize which airport you wish to be taken to..... unfortunately we did this and the cab STILL headed to the wrong airport..... then when we told him he advised us he wanted another 80 Lira ..... and then we missed our flight as they had not allowed enough time to get us to the correct airport. not very impressed !!!!!!!!

We stayed at Rast in Dec 2012 for 5 days and were thoroughly satisfied with our choice. I had researched many hotels in Sultanahmet but finally settled with Rast. A few things that made our stay great:
1) Free airport pickup (although the driver never talked to us and did not help with the luggage)
2) Perfect location in walking distance of Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, Grand Bazzar, Spice Bazzar
3) Awesome views of Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Old city from rooftop restaurant
4) Amazing breakfast with a wide selection (It would have been helpful if they shared names of the turkish food they served)
5) Comfortable and clean room (Bathroom was a bit small though)
6) Hotel staff was very friendly
7) Free massage chairs in lobby area helped relax our aching body after the days sightseeing.

I would definitely recommend staying at Rast Hotel.

Pros:
1. conveniently located among the major attractions. As mentioned by many, the hotel is very very close to the main tourist attractions.
2. we stayed 4 nights at rast, which earns us a free airport pick up to the hotel. Our shuttle driver was on time to meet us at the airport and very obliging.
3. Hotel staff are friendly and very helpful.
4. Breakfast on the top floor was a definite highlight of our stay at rast. There is a relatively wide selection of food and the food selections change slightly every day.
5. Room was comfortable and is sufficient in meeting our needs.

Cons:
1. Room was a little smaller than we had expected but was comfortable.
2. Shower gets clogged up. I had to turn off the water every now and then while showering just to let the water drain.
3. Bathroom was a little small.
4. Carpet in our room felt a little musty and in need of some steam cleaning.

Room Tip: Not all rooms face the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. If the view is important to you, make sure to r...
