Very nice little hotel. Very friendly staff, clean, close to all the big monuments of Sultanahmet. And a manager who never seems to sleep but is always ready to help with a smile. One small thing though: the street is very noisy, and you hear everything in the rooms. Would definitely go back though.

Lovely to go back to Istanbul and stay in Hotel Amber again. Very friendly welcome and clean and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the roof terrace in the evenings and watching the ships coming and going across the Marmara Sea. Beware the seagulls if you eat your breakfast on the terrace!! Hope to go back again next year.

Room Tip: The noises of the Kumkapi eating places can be heard late into the evening, but that is part of the holiday atmosphere - can be blotted out by putting the air conditioning fan on!

Had a lovely stay here while the UK celebrated the Queen's Jubilee weekend. Hotel is well placed to explore Sultanahmet and every morning I would walk 10-15 mins to the Blue Mosque. Staff were very friendly and gave me tips on what to see/do. Breakfast food was delicious and located on a beautiful roof terrace. There are many restaurants behind the hotel so lots of options for evening dinner. I enjoy staying at Best Western hotels and I was very pleased with the Amber. I would like to visit again one day.

As I read in one of the other reviews, the hotel is indeed somewhat uninspiring. For the same price, one can indeed stay closer to the action (however, it's not completely out of the way; you can walk to tourist attractions such as the Blue Mosque in 20 minutes or so).

The walk from the tram stop to the hotel was longer than expected, but downhill so no problems there. On my first morning, it appeared that a mosque was nearby, with the muzzin making the call to prayer at OMG o'clock. Luckily, it didn't happen the other mornings (I stayed for 4 nights).

Staff were friendly and helpful. As noted in other reviews, the breakfast buffet is limited, however this is compensated by the view from the breakfast room. Do note: arrive in time for breakfast, or prepare to wait for a seat in the small breakfast room (or outside).

This hotel has friendly and help ful staff but not much more in its favour. You'll find hotels at same quality and price closer to the old town attractions. The breakfast buffet is uninspiring but is served on a roof terrace with nice view. The rooms are small but clean. Although it is quite close to the tram line and the Basar it is a steep slope to climbe to get there.
