Hotel in a great location! Restaurant offers great food! Staff ever so friendly!

But, neighbourhood can get quite noisy. Service can be slow, especially if the restaurant is quiet, which didn't make sense. Staff can hassle people to go into the
restaurant to eat. But this can be said of many if the hotels and restaurants in sultanahmet area...

We spent 2 nights at the Sultansaray Hotel, which we found due to an accident (see Hanedan Hotel Review). We got a discount price for the 2 rooms (double- and triple bed) including parking lot and breakfast. We had some trouble with parking (Some hotel staff members wanted us afterwards to pay) and with breakfast (having breakfast at 8:30 is almost impossible - too early), but after all we had a nice stay because of the friendly staff. The two rooms were very large and had a large bathroom too.

Due to the location and restaurant of the Sultanahmet hotel, we had some problems with noisy area, but as it is in the city centre of Istanbul, this is quite normal. They should better fix the problems with their air-condition system, and everything will be alright!

Regards,

I stayed in Istanbul with my husband for four nights and were really lucky to have chosen Sultan saray for our stay. We booked through a travel agency in Istanbul that confirmed our reservation at Sultan Saray, but when we arrived - after paying 50 dollars for airport pick up as the travel agent had charged us- there was no reservation and the travel agent turned out to be dishonest. Still, the owner, Mr Salaheddine, welcomed us and we were extremely well taken care of from the minute we stepped into the hotel. Even when the hostel nearby played music all night, the staff took care of it and we were able to enjoy good night sleep after. This hotel is everything I had hoped to find for this short stay. Our room was sunny and spacious and very well furnished. The staff were always trying their best to make us feel at home. The breakfast was generous and delicious.Another great advantage of this hotel is that it is three minutes away from yhr Sultan Ahmet tram station and a few steps away from the historical attractions of Istanbul. On our way back to the airport, Lydia booked got us airport shuttle tickets for 10 euros only! This hotel will not try to take commissions out of tourists. They want foreigners to enjoy their stay in Istanbul. We strongly recommend this hotel and we'll definitely be be stayign here next time we're in Istanbul!

Sutan Saray is in a great location, walking distance to all of the brilliant historical sights in Sultanahmet and the Grand Bazaar as well as the tram stops.

We stayed for 4 nights and arranged hotel pick up from Sabiha Gokcen Airport at 2am for the very reasonable price of 60 Euros with the hotel taxi.

The B&B consists of a restaurant / bar and 3 double rooms. These are all two single beds pushed together, despite what the website says! To sleep any more people (there were three of us), they get out the fold down not-quite-single-sized sofa beds. There weren't enough towels for one each and the campbed didn't have bedding more than a pair of bedsheets and a pillow - not great for the cold nights of Istanbul in April.

The area isn't exactly quiet, and the room we had wasn't exactly soundproof - wouldn't be a problem if you were in Istanbul for the brilliant nightlife, but not great for a relaxing holiday if you need to recharge with some proper sleep.

The room was clean enough, although they didn't come to clean every day. The only toilet roll wasn't replaced when it was finished. On our first morning there was no running water and the when there was water to shower with, it was good to be agile in order to dodge the sudden temperature change from boiling to freezing.

The staff (of which there appear to be tens) are all very friendly, although some of them speak and understand limited amounts of English, so unless you can check-out in Turkish, it's worth leaving time to do this - we had to wait half an hour whilst the very nice guy who was working that morning phoned for 'the boss' so we could check out.

Overall, a fair stay. Great location, good staff, but next time I visit this brilliant city, I'll be looking to book elsewhere.

I travelled around Turkey with my boyfriend for a month and really after roughing it, we were looking to stay somewhere nice, romantic but reasonably priced. In total we stayed in three different hotels in Istanbul, this being the one we stayed in for our last three days. We read many reviews of hotels but we came across this one by chance through another hotel which was booked out. It was everything we had hoped to find and more..couldn't believe our luck. The hotel rooms are spacious, elegantly decorated, spotless and smell lovely. Really you'd want to stay here longer than three days it's so nice. The hotel management and staff are extremely helpful and friendly, speak excellent english and will bend over backwards to help you out. The manager acquired the newspapers for us in the morning, the breakfasts were delicious with lovely freshly squeezed orange juice. We didn't eat at the restaurant but the food looked great. There are only three rooms in this hotel, so so cute and at the time we were the only guests so we seriously counted ourselves lucky. The size of the hotel enables the staff to ensure that their guests are completely catered for and they do this without being anyway invasive as can be the case sometimes in Turkey.Location wise, you're in the centre of Sultanamet., so you can walk ot the bazaar and the mosques and main tourist areas. I can't remember the managers name right now, but he is very helpful and can give you plenty of help to get around the city. The stay here was a fantastic end to an amazing time in turkey and we'll be stayign here next time we're in Istanbul for sure.

I recently spent a week in Istanbul and wished I'd discovered the Sultan Saray earlier in my stay there.

The Sultan Saray is a stylish little boutique hotel just off the Divan Yolu in a very pleasant part of Sultanahmet. Each individually designed room has a retro Ottoman feel with carpets, sofas and drapes, giving it a very exclusive and special touch. The top room, a beautifully converted attic, has good views of the area, including part of the Bosporus. The next room down has a beautiful bay window with views over the Sultanahmet street scene.

Each of the three rooms - very spacious for Sultanahmet standards - occupies one floor and is accessed from a charmingly decorated marble and cast iron winding staircase.

The hotel is in a very convenient location, intimate, cosy and quiet, close to all the main sites (Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapi, Grand Bazaar etc) in Sultanahmet, and a 1 minute walk to the tram and taxis on Divan Yolu. It has a full service courtyard restaurant, a very friendly atmosphere and Baha, the manager, is most attentive - and he gives excellent advice about what to see in Istanbul and how to get around.

Prior to staying at the Sultan Saray, I stayed at two other reasonable hotels in the Sultanahmet area, but the Sultan Saray totally outdid them on every count. I have to say it was a joy to stay here, and a real delight to come back each day - a real oasis and sense of being most welcomed and totally looked after.
