This was our first trip to Istanbul and we chose this place based on the TA and booking.com reviews.. We loved it! When we first got there, I was initially a little worried because its on a somewhat remote residential side street and there's a couple run down looking buildings in the vicinity.. but after our very warm welcome by the Tulip house staff and seeing our charming little room, it all wore off very quickly. Plus there were lots of families around and children playing in the streets late into the evening which made me feel comfortable. Also, the location is great for walking to all the Old City attractions such as the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar, Sultanahmet Square, the trams, etc. It was initially very confusing because the streets are all very narrow and mazelike and similar looking but once we made a few trips back and forth, it was easy. The staff here is great and were extremely helpful, giving us maps, directions, prices, an adapter for our electronics, etc. The terrace in the back of the hotel is lovely and we spent almost every evening out there relaxing and drinking our wine. In the mornings they serve a full breakfast and everything was quite tasty. Even though it goes until 11, you may want to just get there a little early (around 9-930 or earlier) as they do tend to run out of a few things if you come later. But even still there is lots to choose from and we always left full. I found the room to be a little on the small side (by US standards, I've heard by European standards its quite normal) but we didn't have any issues and it was charming and cozy.

If you're looking for luxury this may not be the place to go - but if you are looking for a very reasonably priced place with warm friendly staff and a more authentic experience in the Old City, this is definitely a great choice. Would stay here again.

Happy to have stayed here while in Istanbul. Our room was nice and clean and had the view of the street. I enjoyed watching the kids playing soccer and at night time it was pretty quiet.
The location was close to major tourist areas, walk about five minutes or so, and you're by the Hippodrome! There is market nearby if you need to get water, soda and snacks.
Breakfast served was an assortment of fresh fruits, cheese, salami, bread, eggs, spicy sausage, yogurt, cereals and fresh veggies! Coffee, tea, cold drinks is also served. Breakfast by the terrace with a magnificent view was just awesome!
The staff were very helpful and friendly,( Emrah, Mehmet, Nyiazi, Ugg ) thank you guys for taking the time to answer all our questions and tending to our needs! Thank you, Emrah for recommending ZIya Sark Sofrasi and Karadeniz aile pide ve de kebap salonu, we loved the food so much we ate there twice!
Just a reminder, the hotel doesnt have an elevator, request for the lower floors if you are not fond of stairs.

When in Istanbul, you should stay here! Great value for a great place!

We had the opportunity to be in Istanbul September 10 to 14 2012 and based on TripAdvisor reviews decided to go to Tulip House.
Wonderful people. Place was clean, room with fantastic view, breakfast was very good (food in Turkey is fantastic!) and I we felt at home with the staff.
Also the geographical location of the hotel is superb. Close to the tram and in the center of the city. Easy access to all touristic main attractions.
Emra (one of the owners) became an instant friend. All staff are warm people. We are already planning to go back. There is no place like Istanbul and in Tulip we felt great.
Thanks everyone....

I found this B & B from TA and we weren't disappointed. The exterior of this place was very inviting, maybe I was drawn into the terracota brick wall, it has a boutique feel to it. The front office was very personable and they're there for you with any questions you might have. Another plus side, if you booked through their website and you're staying with them 4 days or longer, they'll give you a free pick up from Ataturk airport to the hotel. Just be warned, the person picking you up might be late. They also offer tours from their website.
The breakfast buffet was amazing. Good breakfast and a great view! You might even see the seagull every morning. No need to spend money for breakfast. The room itself is very basic, comfortable and clean.
The main attractions are walkable, like 5 min. away. Everything about this place exceeded my expectations and if I find myself in Istanbul again, I will definitely stay here. Thanks to the staff, Emrah, Mehmet and Ni!

Two blocks from the tram. One of the clerks walked over to assist us to the hotel in a working class family neighborhood. We really felt authenticly in Istanbul. Rooms were priced well. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking Marmara Sea. Not on the water but the view including the Sinan mosque was delicious. Very attentive staff/polite/helpful recommendations for non-tourist restaurants. I'd come back here. One caution: no elevator and the marble stairs are a challenge.
