“Great boutique hotel - great value and location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2012

This is a great boutique hotel with 50-55 rooms, located on a small street between the Sirkeci train station and the Topkapi Palace. It is a 5-15 minute walk to all the tourist sites (Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, etc) - but in an area with restaurants and stores which cater to local customers as well as tourists. All of the rooms have a double bed or 2-3 twin beds. My room was good size by European standards, with a wood laminate floor, small Turkish rug, comfortable double bed, nightstand, wardrobe, desk, table, arm chair, and mini-bar. There was a flat screen tv with hundreds of mostly Turkish channels and an in-room safe. The free wifi worked well in my room. My bathroom had a shower, but most rooms have a bathtub. The rooms are very nicely furnished and decorated. The small touches (matching trim on the furniture and door, crown molding, nice framed prints, nice lamps), as well as the very nice lobby and breakfast area, make the hotel seem more expensive than it actually is. The lobby is large and very nicely decorated, with several sitting areas. The buffet breakfast is large, with mostly Turkish foods including fresh honeycomb. This is a full service hotel, with bellhops present at all times. The staff are nice, and the hotel gives you small gifts (Turkish delights and tea) at check-out. If you make a reservation directly with the hotel AND pay cash (euros or Turkish lira), you get a 10% discount. You can book a shared van to the airport for 5 euros from an office around the corner. The owners or managers also run the Sapphire Hotel, which seems quite similar. I highly recommend this hotel.

I enjoyed my stay very much as the hotel is close to everything, it is very clean, good breakfast with almost everything u require, excellent service and very friendly employees. Very helpful staff as you can ask them for everything you want. I enjoyed my stay very much and although the rooms were a bit small but being clean is the best thing I appreciate always.

Room Tip: choose the rooms that are facing the street, have a better view than the ones inside.

The 6th floor had no wifi, pointing it out to a staff two times did nothing to fix the problem. TV didn't work as well till the last days of our trip. Shower tub door was broken and shower itself was in a pretty poor condition. At the time of our stay there were a lot of construction works so - noise. On a plus side - clean rooms, good breakfast, good location.

Ideal location, everything is in walking distance and it's also on a quiet back street in the old town so not noisey at all which some hotels can be, especially if on a street with a tram. Good size rooms, very clean and nicely decorated, and a large modern bathroom. Very friendly staff and lots of good, cheap eating options in the vacinity. You really can't go wrong. Great location, good price and super clean modern rooms.

We stayed in triple room in October. Hotel is ideally situatated near all historical sites so you can walk to almost all of them. Personal on the reception is very kind and helpful.
Room was on the lower floors so there was no view but we didnt bother us with it as we were most of the time out of the room. It was nice to have two tiny balconies to check the weather in the morning which by the way was very good although was the end of October.
Breakfast was more turkish but there was enough things to eat and choose and if you are not too picky you will not be hungry at all.
It was more or less quite in the night for the center of the town. It is on the back side of the street and as I saw some other hotels suffer more from the tram noise, In Maywood that noise you will not hear.
Wi Fi worked good as well as the two computers on the reception and was free of charge.
To conclude it is good value for money keeping in mind that this is the centre of the historical part of the town and so conviniently located.
I am happy I stayed there because staff was very hepful and location was very good.
Thank you all in Maywood for your hospitality and help which made our holidays in Istanbul so special.

Booked at this hotel due to the reviews I read on TripAdvisor. What a pleasant stay we had in this boutique hotel! Tucked away in a side street in the Old City, it is very centrally located and within walking distance of all the main Old City attractions. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome (including our two toddlers). Would definitely recommend for the fact that it is located in a very vibrant and upmarket part of town, the great staff and the comfort. Will always be my first choice in Istanbul!

We were very pleased with the maywood hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, offered advice on places to eat, when to go to certain sites, and making sure we were happy with our accommodations. The room was spacious and clean and had a tea pot and tea options right in the room. The breakfast was very good with a nice assortment of hot and cold dishes, coffee and wonderful honey. The location was perfect, we could walk to the sultanhamet area with no issues, as well as the galatta bridge which had nice seafood. The area around the hotel had many local shops for supplies as well as last minute gifts. You can even walk to the spice market and several mosques. I would definitely consider staying here again.
