This hotel is just ok.. not great and definitely have lots of hotels in the area for the same price or better with a greater value and product... The only hotel that i know that will only take cash.. they advertise credit card but when you arrive they spring the news on you that cash only...my group just stayed there and we booked for the higher priced rooms and we were put in the basement.
they knew they had made a mistake and the 2nd night moved us above ground. Make sure you have in writing before book that the room will not be in the basement and credit cards can be used. Breakfast is definitely below average and other hotels including a hotel right next door is way better.

Room Tip: make sure its not in the basement

We spent four nights here while visiting Istanbul and were not disappointed--especially by the location. The hotel is less than a ten minute walk from a bunch of the major tourist attractions in Sultanahmet--the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, and Topkapi Palace, and also a ten minute walk to the tram station. The staff was very friendly and helpful. One thing I wouldn't recommend is the airport transfer service--definitely not worth the 20 Euro considering the Istanbul metro system is so easy to navigate. We were in a small double room the first night because the standard double rooms were unavailable--the room and especially the bathroom were very small but clean. I would definitely spend the money for the larger double room, especially if you have a decent amount of stuff--we had much more room to spread out and relax. The free breakfast served every morning was also very pleasant and delicious--nothing like eating tasty Turkish bread and drinking tea while lounging on a sunny rooftop overlooking the neighborhood.

Room Tip: Pay the additional ten euros for the standard or larger double rooms, definitely worth it.

Found the hotel staff, ramazaan and his colleagues, especially welcoming and helpful. The rooms were of a decent size, always clean, and the bathrooms are more than adequate. Worth more than the decent price we paid.

highly recommend that people stay here.

Rooms are clean, sharp and modernly outfitted. The service from Ramazan, Seba & Zeki was above impeccable. Our only complaint is about the noise at night from the terrace and phone ringing, otherwise this hotel would get 5 stars all along.

Randomly and quickly, my friend and I booked this hotel thinking of anything else then the pressure to have an hotel in Istanbul asap. We were very late!!!
We didn't have any expectation. Instead, we found a very nice, quiet and tidy place into the heart of Sultanahmet, well connected to public transports for every kind of destination and very close to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia and Topkapi Palace.
What really makes the difference is the warm welcome and the kindness of Ramazan and Sebo, the two receptionists who follow you from your arrival till your departure with friendly smiles. Ask them everything and they provide it to you: not only places, streets, neighborhood
trips, but also cultural tips and extraordinary secrets of the town that the best travel guide is unable to reveal.
If you're the kind of traveller who likes to say "I didn't visit Istanbul, only. I also found out its deep secrets, that make it dreamful and extraordinary", pick your backpack up and be sure to have a room at Grand Peninsula Hotel.

Based on a recommendation, we booked this hotel at the last minute & with little preparation for what we would do once we arrived in Istanbul. Despite the lack of planning, this turned out to be one of the highlights of our European / middle eastern holiday, which can largely be attributed to Ramazan & his staff offering such sensational service.
Offering travel advice based on the feedback of their past lodgers, they directed us to all the famous (blue mosque etc) & hidden treasures (fresh, cheap & delicious fish burgers with the locals) of the area & beyond.
Centrally located within old Istanbul, this hotel is within walking distance of all the attractions. It was secure, clean and value for money. Highly recommend it!

I just left Istanbul after a three night stay at the Grand Peninsula Hotel. The location of the hotel is perfect, right next to all the major sites on the historic peninsula. It is clean and simple and has a wonderful view of the sea from the breakfast room on the terrace. Lastly, the staff is wonderful - helpful, warm and professional, particularly Ramazan and Seba. I recommend you check the place out!
