“3 hours of great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2013

A great way to get exposed to a ton of Turkish food in a great environment with a very knowledgeable guide. We spent about 3 hours going from Taksim Square about halfway down Istiklal Caddesi towards Tünel (about 1 mile of walking total); along the way, we sampled great versions of: Islak Burgers ("wet burgers", a garlicky slider popular after a night of drinking--good); Tavuk & Et Döner Porsiyon (chicken and beef doner kebabs without bread--great); Süt Mısır ("milk corn", boiled young corn--fine); Çıtır ("crispy", a roasted chicken hip that was ludicrously good); istavrit tava (fried horse mackerel eaten whole--good); kaşarlı pide (cheese bread--great); kiymali pide (ground beef bread--good); lahmacun (Turkish pizza--good); a variety of nuts and dried fruits from a local store; şerbet dut (white mulberry sorbet); midye tava & tarator (fried mussels w/ garlic sauce--great); midye dolmasi (mussels stuffed with rice--good); lokum (turkish delight, in rosewater, pomegranate, and mastic varieties--good); baklava (sweet walnut phyllo pastry--good); kadaif (sweet pistachio thread pastry--good); çay (Turkish tea--fine); and su böreği (cheese pastry). Definitely a lot of fun (although a bit pricey, which is the only reason I wouldn't rate it a 5) and the other folks on the tour were fun as well, so after the tour we clutched our distended bellies and staggered to a bar and had some rakı as a nightcap.

“Great cooking class!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

Selin's cooking class was so much fun! We learned how to cook many types of delicious Turkish dishes. She's such a sweet lady and really knows her food.
There were seven of us in the class so we all took turns chopping and had different tasks. I thought it was something different and fun after days of walking around and sight seeing. Good shopping in her neighborhood, which is necessary afterwards to walk off all of the food!

“A fantastic day of food and culture”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013

What a terrific tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. The spice tasting was unique and such a treat. I really feel like this was the best tour I did in Istanbul. You get to explore both the european and asian sides, and sample 50+ dishes. Do it -- you will not regret it!

“Great evening eating and exploring”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2013

I booked the street vendor tour and Annie was our guide for the evening. We walked through the New District, and had food from all regions of Turkey. It was a great experience walking through streets near Takism Sq and Istikial. We had Kurdish "pizza," mussels fried and stuffed, fish and an old school, family candy store where they make the candy by hand in the store, and picked up baklava and ate it at a vibrant tea house. Annie was a great guide and host, and during our 3 hours and eating and walking, made some new friends. The trip was a great way to learn about the variety of Turkish food, learn the streets in the area, and make new friends. A great way to spend the evening.

“Saling Around Prince's Islands”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2013

My wife and I recently took an all-day sailing tour around the Prince's Islands with Can and Ünal. Our entire trip to Istanbul was fabulous but the tour with Can and Ünal was the highlight of our trip. We thoroughly enjoyed the leisurely sail around the islands with Can and Ünal as our hosts. After a calm sail for an hour or so, we arrived at the island. Upon arrival, we were led on a brief tour of the island before returning the dock for lunch. The lunch itself consisted of many different mezes to try. If you appreciate trying new foods, this lunch is for you. The tour will be most remembered, however, for the hospitality and delightful conversation throughout the day. Can and Ünal were very helpful in assisting us learn more of the Turkish language and informing us about Turkish culture and Turkish perspectives. By the end of the day, my wife and I felt that we had known Can and Ünal for years, not the hours that it actually had been. Simply put, our tour of the islands was çok bok yok (inside joke there). We highly recommend this tour for those interested in a relaxing day and the opportunity to learn more about Turkish culture. Hayat gerçekten güzel. Çok Can ve Ünal teşekkür ederiz.
