Location: I picked this hotel because of its proximity to the airport. I had an overnight cOnnection in Istanbul. The taxi ride from the airportto the hotel was still about 10-15minutes (and cost aprox 20TL). I would have expected To be closer but it seems this is the closest upmarket hotel. If you have some extra time during the day, the Galleria mall is a 2min walk in front of the hotel and has many international brands (Starbucks, Lacoste, Adidas, Emporio...) and also a great food court with several turkish restaurants. Other than that there isn t much. So definitely don t stay here ifyou re planning on visitin Istanbul as it s about a 20min taxi ride into the city..

Check-In: as quick as it gets. Walked to reception, my reservation was fine an was handed the key along with a 24hr wifi voucher (it s 15TL but i got it for free as a SPG Gold member)

Room: well appointed, shower worked fine. Pillows wre notto my liking (they were very soft) but that s a matter of taste. There really is no view that one could ask for. I had sea view but it s nothing special...

Beautiful New Hotel, amazing decor and atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and they all have amazing view of the sea. The amenities of the hotel are all state of the art, the indoor and outdoor pools are great, try also the Turkish bath all for free. The Lobby bar is also very nice and the free lobby internet facilities are great. The service is average but this is the best you get in Istanbul. The concierg service is not bad. There is one negative point which is that this hotel is far from the city center, but they have a free shuttle service for both city center and airport which solves the problem. There are several shopping malls around the hotel and a nice district with a lot of malls and restaurants 3 minutes away walking. If you a Narguileh fan, there are many Narguileh Cafes also in 2 minutes walking distance. I strongly recommend this amazing Hotel and I will definitely be back very soon.

Room Tip: All the rooms are sea view. Try to get a higher floor.

Helpful friendly staff, decent bar with big TV screen for sports and shopping centre across the road. Ok restaurants (particularly fish) within 10 mins walk at the marina.

Only minor failings - complicated shower over bath taps (you know the kind - 10 minute to work out how to get to use the shower), airport shuttle infrequent and hotel restaurant a bit limited menu and lacking atmosphere. If you what to be close to airport, yet in a ok neighbourhood and out of the city, I think a good choice.

Room Tip: Better sea views from higher floor rooms

First:
the reason for my poor review of this property is the failure of the staff to respect the DND and privacy sign for my room. I do not typically get my room cleaned for a 3 night stay and had the DND button activated with the privacy sign on the door knob.
Upon returning to the room at the end of the night I was surprised that the room was made. The funny/SAD part was that I had a message saying they couldn't clean my room because the DND and privacy signs were up. (?!?!?!?)
Called the hotel guest services about this but nothing was done/could be done.

Check-in process was great.
Staff members and concierge were very helpful with everything.

TIP:
Take the hotel shuttle from the airport! (confirm if it's free before your departure)
If you don't want to wait, flag a cab down away from the usual cab areas and offer 15-20 TL for your ride to the hotel without meter. Confirm it before getting in.
AVOID the people in the airport who offer you prices of 15-35 EURO

I have tried a lot of hotels in Istanbul and so far this is by far the worst 4/5 star.

Firslty my hotel car at the airport was messed up. Then when it arrived it was an old old car and at the same price as other hotels charge for a new BMW.

The hotel didnt seem to have my booking even though i booked online at Sheraton.

Then when i showed them the booking they still managed to put me in the wrong type of room

Then , because the car pickup was late, i arrived at 1115pm, which according to the hotel meant the laundry was closed and they could press my suit. I was rudley infomred to do it myself with the iron.

I asked for two more pillows and was provided with the lumpiest most awfull pilows i have ever seen.

Room is dirty and staff clothing also dirty and old.

Looks like something out of one of thos bad horrow movies.

Dont bother staying here

Room Tip: Go to another hotel

Warm, accommodating and friendly staff, comfortable and modern, well-appointed room, good restaurant and amenities in hotel. My husband and I stayed here overnight in November 2011 and it clearly met our expectations of a Sheraton hotel. We were on a premium 12th floor level with a beautiful view of the Marmara Sea and environs. it's off the beaten track for touring Sultanahmet area but definitely convenient for getting to the airport quickly. They have a shuttle bus service to/from the airport and a shopping mall across the street.

Room Tip: Higher floors have wonderful views of the sea.

I stayed here on a business trip, not as a tourist, and for that purpose it was fine. It's close to the airport, within walking distance of a very nice fish restaurant (Papalina -- worth trying!), and next to a shopping mall. The lobby is gorgeous, the rooms are very comfortable and modern, the service excellent, the staff unfailingly polite and friendly. The view from my hotel room looked out over the sea, and that was pretty stunning.

But if you're coming to Istanbul for the first time as a tourist, you'll want to stay in another neighborhood. Sultanahmet, for instance, would be your best bet. Or Beyoglu. Those are where the sights are, and where a wide variety of restaurants will be within walking distance. The Sheraton is sort of in no-man's land, and when I was there, on a cold and rainy week, it was a bit depressing to see how quiet the area was.

There's only one restaurant in the hotel, and the food was only so-so for dinner. I wasn't impressed. Breakfast has a nice spread, with both Turkish and American choices. For Asian visitors, there's miso soup, but the rice is pilaf, not the soft, sticky rice that Japanese tourists prefer, so that must be a bit disconcerting for them!

Next time I come back, if it's on business, this hotel would be fine. But if it's for vacation, I would definitely stay somewhere in Beyoglu instead.
