Description: "Ask most tourism representatives, restaurateurs, and waiters in Old Istanbul to recommend a restaurant, and most will offer Khorasani Kebab&Grill and Steak House. This restaurant has been a part of the Sultanahmet gastronomy scene for many years and is famed for its Turkish BBQ (the ocakbaşi), tender kebabs, and freshly prepared mezes. While the menu caters to a range of culinary interests, if you want a unique dining experience then ask to pick out your mezes and kebabs from the kitchen counter and have the chef cook your kebab over the BBQ's open fire inside the restaurant. Another popular dish from the coals of the BBQ is the Testi Kebab. As featured in New Zealand's World Kitchen TV show, this flavored meat and vegetable casserole is sealed in a clay pot, slowly cooked over the BBQ coals, and cracked open before the eyes of diners. Check out the video under "We in Press" on the Khorasani website for more information about the kebab from Central Anatolia. Khorasani also has a great wine menu and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner." Afar.

Dinned here on our first night as it was not far from the hotel and had good reviews / recommended in guide books. This ended up to be the most expensive and least enjoyable meal over five days.
Lentil soup and fresh bread were the best part of the meal. Mezzes not that impressive, had better quality and better value elsewhere. Mains - kebabs / grills, which are meant to be some of the best in town if you go by the guide books were a disappointment - dry and had a lot of fatty bits in. Kunefe desert however was really tasty!
Total bill at 207 lira with a cheeky 10% service charge included - which I find rude no matter where in the world you eat! Would not go back or recommend it as lentil soup and Kunefe can be found elsewhere in Istanbul.

Ate here tvice during our stay in Istanbul, dinner plus lunch. Food very good, a bit pricey on drinks but still OK. Could be a bit generous on smaller things. For instance I was sick the second day we were here, maybe because of the food from day one but I do not know for sure. We paid nice tips day 1, my wife ordered a lot of foods day 2 (I could not eat food at all). They could give me an extra cup of tea instead of letting me pay extra for cup number 2. A little thing that makes you feel more welcome.

We stopped here for dinner after our Turkish Bath. What a wonderful way to spend the rest of the evening. We sat outside under the heaters (they provided polar fleece blankets if you were still chilly). Dinner was very flavorful and plentiful. There were 3 of us and we each had something different - everything was very good. After dinner we relaxed with a bottle of wine and were treated to a rocky at the end. It was an easy walk from the Blue Mosque and provided nice people watching.

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel. A very good service and the best meal we had in Istanbul. The "Kebap with pistachios" was delicious.
Good Turkish wine list and friendly staff.
A little more expensive than other restaurants in the area but affordable.

We ate twice in this restaurant which has a wide variety of Turkish food on offer, including that from south-east Turkey. On one occasion, we ordered the seafood/fish platter for two, which despite being Comparatively expensive was excellent value and very fresh. The house wine was noticeably better than other restaurants, if a little pricey, and the starters that brought round in dishes On a large tray very appetising. Overall, we had an excellent dining experience and would strongly recommend the restaurant
