Description: "Ask most tourism representatives, restaurateurs, and waiters in Old Istanbul to recommend a restaurant, and most will offer Khorasani Kebab&Grill and Steak House. This restaurant has been a part of the Sultanahmet gastronomy scene for many years and is famed for its Turkish BBQ (the ocakbaşi), tender kebabs, and freshly prepared mezes. While the menu caters to a range of culinary interests, if you want a unique dining experience then ask to pick out your mezes and kebabs from the kitchen counter and have the chef cook your kebab over the BBQ's open fire inside the restaurant. Another popular dish from the coals of the BBQ is the Testi Kebab. As featured in New Zealand's World Kitchen TV show, this flavored meat and vegetable casserole is sealed in a clay pot, slowly cooked over the BBQ coals, and cracked open before the eyes of diners. Check out the video under "We in Press" on the Khorasani website for more information about the kebab from Central Anatolia. Khorasani also has a great wine menu and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner." Afar.

A pretty nice place to relax and eat in Sultanahmet area. The restaurant is rather small with tables arranged quite close to each other. The food was freshly prepared and was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

This was a pretty nice place, we got there late (for us) around 8:30 and it was really busy. I found that the tables were a bit too close, but that may just be my Canadian size sense of space. To start we had Ezme salad, a spicy tomato salad that's more like a spread, and for bread they had a giant pita. It was very tasty, that spicy tomatoe salad is one of my favourite Turkish foods. We also had the baked mushrooms with cheese expecting stuffed mushrooms but got a pile of canned mushrooms with cheese on top. The pizza isn't really worth it either as it was cold and gamey, because of these two dishes I could not give them 5 stars. However the Adana kebab and spicy mountain salad were delicious. The service was impeccable and the having the kebab grill in the centre of the restaurant creates a nice ambience. I thought is was very comparable price wise to other restaurants we have been to in the same area.

The restaurant had all three going for it, good food, service and ambience. A little on the expensive side compared to the other restaurants we tried in Istanbul. However the above three factors make up for it. Its well worth a visit!
