Description: "Ask most tourism representatives, restaurateurs, and waiters in Old Istanbul to recommend a restaurant, and most will offer Khorasani Kebab&Grill and Steak House. This restaurant has been a part of the Sultanahmet gastronomy scene for many years and is famed for its Turkish BBQ (the ocakbaşi), tender kebabs, and freshly prepared mezes. While the menu caters to a range of culinary interests, if you want a unique dining experience then ask to pick out your mezes and kebabs from the kitchen counter and have the chef cook your kebab over the BBQ's open fire inside the restaurant. Another popular dish from the coals of the BBQ is the Testi Kebab. As featured in New Zealand's World Kitchen TV show, this flavored meat and vegetable casserole is sealed in a clay pot, slowly cooked over the BBQ coals, and cracked open before the eyes of diners. Check out the video under "We in Press" on the Khorasani website for more information about the kebab from Central Anatolia. Khorasani also has a great wine menu and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner." Afar.

“Good location, service, food”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

One of several restaurants, all with indoor and outdoor seating on a side street off main tram line near Blue Mosque. Had the lamb kebab....good, not outstanding.

“Liked it so much we went twice!”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

Khorasani is a great restaurant,,especially if you are staying in the Sultanahmet area. We liked it so much we went twice. Service is attentive but not rushed, atmosphere is casual but relatively upscale. The hummus and stuffed vegetables in olive oil were terrific starters (especially with the amazingly large puff of pita type bread that arrives hot at your table). My chicken kebab was delicious and moist, served with grilled tomatoes and rice, and a bit of greens. My husband enjoyed his lentil soup and spinach creeps (they have a range of menu items from traditional Turkish fare to things like steaks and crepes). A nice touch was the complimentary glass of almond liqueur serves after dessert and coffee or tea. Prices were moderate (eg.Our total bill for 2 mezes, a salad or soup, two entrees, a glass or two of house wine, and tea came to about the equivalent of $65-70 US). Highly recommend after a long day of sightseeing, when you want a good meal without a long way to travel from the Blue Mosque area.

We liked the restaurant that we dined there twice. Very friendly service and amazing food. Their mixed grill was one of the best.

“OK, but nothing special”
Reviewed April 9, 2013 via mobile

Food was ok, but not much more to say about it. Little overpriced in comparison to what you get. The staff outside who invited us in was not too pushy, which is of course a plus.
