“Great Hostel in a perfect location”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

For the second time, I booked this hostel. The location, the people and accommodation have convinced me.The location is perfect, right next to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace. In the same street there a lot of nice restaurants and pubs. But the best restaurant belongs to the hostel: Siva restaurant. Very delicious turkish food and nice staff! The room with private bathroom was nice, clean and very cheap and including with a tasty breakfast.
The staff spoke excellent english and was kind and funny and especially Hakan was very friendly and always helpful. They make you feel like at home. I had a wonderful time there and I will definitely go back.

My partner and I stayed here in Sept 13. We looked at. Few hostels and hotels online before heading to Istanbul and decided to walk around and inspect a few once we arrived. Arkan was very friendly when we approached him about availability. He showed us his rooms which were much nicer than several other hostels we had viewed. The price was very reasonable and included a very nice Turkish breakfast. All the staff are very friendly and accommodating and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The rooms are clean secure and comfortable and a very high standard for a hostel category accommodation. I have stayed in 3 star hotels of a lower standard. All the staff spoke excellent English and in the evenings the restaurant came alive with Joseph and his colleagues turned from waiters to entertainers! Joseph can balance anything on his head. Including trees! A big plus for this place is the Siva restaurant which is attached to the hostel. It has the no1 rating on tripadvisor for places to eat here and after trying the food I can see why. All in all really good value and somewhere I would certainly recommend and return to.

Room Tip: Would suit any age travellers but given the area does get lively on an evening. We chose not to stay...

We stayed in dorm room for 3 nights which had air conditioning which was really good to have. Rooms were clean and big bathroom. The staff working for the backpackers and cafe joined on were so nice and friendly-food is good also. Location is great right next to blue mosque etc maybe 2 min walk. Overall felt safe and had a great stay at new backpackers. Quiet to unlike noisy taksim.

I stayed here in a double room for 3 nights. The room was really nice, there was a comfy bed and a big couch too. The bathroom was really clean and the shower was great.
The breakfast which is included is nice and a good start to the day.
There is a small terrace which you can see both The blue Mosqu and Aya sofya, although the views are restricted. It's a nice place to have a beer or just hang out in the evening.
The staff were nice and helpful.
It's location is brilliant, only minutes away from The blue Mosque and all the other sights in Sultanahmet, and in easy walking distance of the Grand Bazaar. The street it is on is lined with many restaurants and bars, so eating in the area is not a problem.
It was very good value.

Great place! Small compact room with an air conditioner and private bath. All nice, clean, functional. Two of us stayed for 7 nights and they cleaned our room mid-way through the stay. Hakan, the host of the hostel, is a very nice man, always friendly and helpful, and ALWAYS there seemed like. Free Turkish continental breakfast in the morning. A block from the Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and tram line. 10 minute walk to Grand Bazar. 20 minute walk to Galata Bridge and Spice Market. Hard to see how you could be more centrally located and pay 20 euros per person per night. The street out front is lined with cafe's, with an active night life, and plenty of street side seating to enjoy the evening breeze with a meal and a beer. The attached Siva cafe and New Backpackers both make Istanbul a comfortable place. When the Imam calls to prayer, you hear several different calls at the same time, adding to the mystique. We had a room on the back side, so otherwise a quiet experience.

A couple of friends and I stayed in a private room together. The room was small but clean, with a functional A/C unit. The area is, however, rather loud. If you are a light sleeper then you're out of luck. The staff from both the hostel and the restaurant below are friendly, kindred spirits. Overall it was a lovely stay.
