“Good bed & breakfast located in a historic part of town”
Reviewed September 6, 2009

The Osmanhann is located within walking distance of the Sultanahment (Blue Mosque) and Hagia Sophia. The neighbourhood is dotted with Bed & Breakfasts. The rooms are nice and cozy. Breakfast is served at the rooftop, overlooking the ocean. So, full marks for location

Fateh a the front desk is a cheerful guy, willing to help tourists plan their day & way around Istanbul. The hotel is not grand or fancy like a 3-4 star, so do bear in mind that you should expect a Bed & breakfast....a good one at that!

A couple of things to bear in mind...this place has no elevator, and we were staying on the 4th floor, so you know what that feels like after a full day of walking in Istanbul. Second, if you are planning to get from the airport to Sultanahment by train+tram, you will have to drag your suitcases up/down cobbled streeets/sidewalks and it can tire you a fair bit.

The rooms are large and clean and decorated very well. The bathroom is modern and a very good size by European standards. The location is superb, close to all the major sites and tram. The rooftop terrace had the most beautiful view of the Marmara and Blue Mosque. I could not have asked for a more charming place to stay. All of the staff were very polite and ready to assist. However, it was Fatih, the daytime concierge who helped make this an unforgettable trip. He is excellent at running the hotel but is also a very kind person. He did not treat you as a guest, but as a friend. Thank you Fatih! If I could live at the Osmanhan, I would!

My husband and I stayed at the Osmanhan Hotel in beginning August, and enjoyed our stay there. It's in a quiet lane, and as soon as you walk out, there are many restaurants and bars in the adjoining lane. The people were very nice and hospitable, and all rooms are individually air-conditioned, with free wi-fi signal, reaching the rooms. The room was nice, and decent-sized-not spacious, but not like the matchbox rooms one encounters in big cities in Europe where it is hard to open your suitcases in the room. Our two large suitcases fitted easily in the room.
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the Blue Mosque, and a little less (but uphill walk) to Topkapi Palace. It was convenient and not noisy-even though we stayed on the ground floor, facing the street.
They even had a spare laptop for anyone to use, and at one point, when it was busy, Fatih-at the front desk- gave my husband his own laptop to use. They even let us print stuff for free. The room was perfect-except that I missed having a full-length mirror.
The Turkish breakfast was wonderful and the best we had on our trip. It had the same stuff as any Turkish breakfast (hard boiled eggs, feta, olives, cucumber, tomatoes, juices, curd, cereal, jams, breads, milk, etc) but the quality of the food was very good. The breads were fresh, as was everything else-additionally they had muesli. Someone in an earlier review had suggested that they should add simit (a pretzel shaped sesame covered bread) to their spread-and they must be reading the reviews, as it has been added. The terrace where they served the breakfast was very nice, although I need to make the distinction that you can see the Bosphorous from the terrace-albeit, only in the distance. But let that not take away from the fact that it still made for a very nice ambience.
Surprisingly, they had told us that the room is for 85 Euros but eventually charged us only 75 Euros/night for it. And we even got an email, after leaving, thanking us for staying with them, as well as, asking for feedback on anything negative that we may have experienced at their hotel. All I could say was- No complaints at the Osmanhan!

  • Liked — The staff there!
  • Disliked — This place is not convenient for senior citizens as they have a steep staircase-no elevator!

I can't say enough great things about my stay at the Osmanhan hotel. The service Hamit and Fathi gave us was out of this world! I dont think our stay would have been the same if it wasn't for them. We were initially planning to only stay for 3 nights but after the 3rd night there we couldn't fathom going to a different hotel. My luggage was lost for 3 days by Turkish Airlines and I was completely distraught. Both Fathi and Hamit were on top of the airline trying to track my luggage and went as far as complaining to the higher ups of Turkish Air. If it wasn't for the 20 calls they were making per day my luggage would have been lost for good. As for the hotel itself, the showers are the best! And Im a stickler about good water pressure. The hotel is small as well with only about 7 rooms so you the personal attention given by the staff is superior. Also, the breakfast they have every morning on the terrace is wonderful! Fathi and Hamit we'll be back!!!

We stayed at the Osmanhan Hotel for three days and I have to say how impressed we were with the welcome we received and helpfulness during our stay. Fatih who works on reception is really nice with his constant smile and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast is taken on the roof terrace overlooking the Bosphorous, which is wonderful, with cereal, fresh fruit including melon, peaches and figs, eggs, cheese and fresh warm bread, The bedrooms are clean with constant hot water which we discovered is not the same in other places! The position is in the old/historic part of town so is wonderful for seeing all the sights. I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel and we were impressed ourselves with all the positive reviews about it and will be recommending it to others.

After reading only great reviews for this hotel here, we decided to take the risk.
Well, since the time of our reservation, we had the most attentive and friendly service. The hotel is well located, comfortable and the staff were really amazing, and honestly, for us who love travelling, this really makes a difference.
Fatih, who is in charge of the reception, welcomed us wit a big smile and was really helpful and friendly during our stay.
We stayed there for 5 nights and really enjoyed. We definitely recommend it!!
