We went here after reading all the reviews and were not disappointed. The service was prompt and friendly, the mint and garlic dip was very minty and garlicky, a range of pita and breads accompanied the meal (which is bottomless if you want more), the mains are generously proportioned and delicious and the prices fair and they did not charge service. Like much of Istanbul, tea after the meal is complimentary. We did miss the puffy bread though.

Basic tourist place which atmosphere I found quite tense. We waited our food for one hour. Food itself was ok but a portion was small. Nothing special.

Came across this by chance and were were not disappointed. Very nice atmosphere and a ceiling of 248 different glass mosaic lights which enhanced the ambiance.

Very good staff and lots of attention to detail. the food was above average and included the best calamari we had ever had.

being our anniversary we wanted some champagne, but any imported alcohol is highly taxed, and so we were persuaded to try the local Turkish version, a quire frankly it was very good. We would go there again.

It can be very hard to pick out a restaurant along Akblylk Cad in Sultanahmet. There is not a lot of differentiation amongst them so what sold this restaurant to our group was the gentleman outside trying to pitch it. He made a good pitch including getting some thumbs up from the patrons out front and this is what brought us in.
Food: Overall, the food was very good except for one issue. My friend and I shared the "testi kebap" which is the one that is cooked inside a clay pot that is then theatrically broken open at the table. A neat little experience but it is definitely not unique to this restaurant. One of my friends had the chicken crep, which you could compare to a chicken and cheese quesadilla. The chicken inside was not cooked thorougly so we sent the plate back. The staff quickly had a new and cooked one out that was very good.
Value: I would say value was average. The main dishes were between 20-30 lira which is typical along the street. There were no free items given such as appetizers or dip. Some of the items like the clay pot testi kebap can be found at other restaurants on the streets for half the price, although the restaurant is not nearly as nice. Still, I would bet there are more expensive restaurants serving the same cuisine as well. Like all restaurants in Istanbul, alcohol is expensive. A .5 L beer was 10 lira, which is typical for the area. Mixed drinks and hard alcohol will be much more.
Atmosphere: The restaurant was well decorated and comfortable inside. It had some unique character like the amount of lights on the ceiling.
Outdoor Seating: There was not enough space for our group of seven outside but the seats looked nice and warm with the heat lamps. Not much of a view as it is street level and this restaurant does not offer a rooftop terrace with a view of the local sights.
Conclusion: A good choice if you want to experience typical Turkish food at a reasonable price and an easy walk from the main hotel areas.
