excellent location: just minutes away from Aya Sofia and Sultanahmet
friendly staff: eager to help wherever they can
clean: clean and nice rooms but don't expect anything super fancy
quiet: suprisingly quite despite the hotel's central location
good value for money: especially taking into account the excellent location

I have spent weekend in Istanbul with my wife. We have chosen this hotel based on price/ location factor.
Arrival from airport: possible with metro line and tramway (T1) - time ca. 1 h with price 4 TLY per person. Hotel is easy to find and walking distance from tram stop. Early morning trams are crowded.

Hotel location: just perfect, 5 min. walking from major city most important sights.

Room and equipment: we have twin room - bigger than double, cleanliness - ok, however bath room required some additional work. Basic equipment in room - wardrobe, small cupboard between beds, additional warm blankets. We have room on second floor - location is quiet. This weekend was in Istanbul particular cold - temperature in room was enough. Last day we suffered central heating malfunction and reception stuff advices to use AC for heating. I had to say it was barely enough - this night room temperature was significantly lower.
Beds: quite hard and comfortable.
Internet connection: WiFi - however sometimes was impossible to maintain connection,
Breakfast: simple, basic - but for us ok. Fresh bread, olives, cheese, quark, plain yoghurt, ham, cucumber, tomato, boiled egg + always pieces of cake or biscuits.
Additional services: umbrellas, airport shuttle ( 5 EUR per person)
Reception and hotel stuff: friendly always around.
Price: excellent
Summary: we really recommend this hotel for those who need bed and breakfast with perfect location and reasonable price. Good value.

Room Tip: Choose twin instead of double. With heavy luggage first floor (no lift).

The Anadolu Hotel is located in the heart of Sultanhamet within very easy walking distance of Aya Sofia, the Blue Mosque and the Basilica Cistern. Public transport is nearby with both Sultanhamet and Gulhane trams stops a short walk away. We found Gulhane to be the most convenient. The hotel itself is basic but comfortable and good value for more money. Considering that other hotels in the area charge, this place is a bargain!

Our room had comfortable beds, a reasonable amount of space and ensuite toilet and shower. The room did have a few minor niggles but nothing to detract from our enjoyment - after all we don't spend much time in the room when there is so much to see. Breakfast is simple, continental style and more than adaquate to set you up for a day of sightseeing.

The hotel staff are friendly enough and speak very good English. They can also provide advice on where to go and what to see if required. They can arrange airport shuttles that cost €5 per person.

There are numerous restaurants and bars nearby, all with the standard tout after your business!

In summary, the Anadolu Hotel is a friendly and excellent place to stay offering fantastic value for money.

I stayed in Anadolu during my last visit to Istanbul. I chose it based on price and location, and my general impression of the hotel was ok.

Istanbul hotels seem to have had quite a hike in price in the last couple of years and nicer places where I used to stay for 50-70 Euro before all cost over 100 Euro now. So, I decided to try Anadolu.

Location: very good in my opinion. it is in the convenient part of Sultanahmet with virtually just 2-3 min walk to Basilica Cistern and St. Sofia and also easy downhill walking to Gulhane park and then on to Galata bridge. The hotel is easy to find and it is on a very quiet street, which allows for good sleep.

Room: we had a twin room which was pretty good in size. I checked also a double room next to ours and it was almost half size, so I felt "lucky" to have some space to move around. The room was clean and the beds were firm and comfortable. We did not use a/c as it was not hot, we also did not use TV because there was very limited selection of channels. The furniture is very simple but our bathroom was relatively modern, I actually expected worse :).

Facilities: there is no elevator, so expect to carry the luggage up and down the stairs. The hotel has roof terrace with somewhat limited view of Golden Horn and a nearby mosque. The terrace is pleasant but somehow they do not make any use of it: if the breakfast would be served there it could be a much more pleasant option and experience.

Breakfast: was barely ok. First of all it is served downstairs and the environment is not cozy and does not invite to linger and enjoy. I love places where one can linger over breakfast for a while... but here it was just functional. My partner actually did not bother to go for breakfast after the first try and waited to nicer options in town. The food selection was limited but all typical Turkish ingredients: tomatos, cucumbers, olives, cheese, boiled eggs and some fruit were there.

Staff: did not find them much friendly; once I sat on roof terrace with a book after breakfast and a lady was trying to wash the floor making somehow loads of noice and pushing my slippers around... probably expecting me to leave. Well, I rather waited for her to finish and leave :). The reception was ok but we had minimum interaction.

Overall, if you look for a budget option in Istanbul - it is definitely a place to consider.

Room Tip: Some rooms on 3rd floor have direct access to roof terrace. The twin rooms seem to be considerably...

Very convenient location close to Aya Sofia - though I made the mistake of relying on Google maps for the location and they are wrong by about 250 metres. Easy & cheap to get there from the airport using the Hafif metro & the tram. Free wireless Internet was a nice bonus too. And the restaurant was good as well.

Anadolu Hotel is a small hotel located in the heart of Old City of Istanbul. The hotel offers nice views of Aya Sofia and, from the terrace, of the sea. The major touristic spots are at only 5-10 minutes away. The rooms are quite ok, not very big, but decent. The breakfast is good. A nice terrace at the last level.
Some free parking places available in front of the building, but a strong parking break is mandatory! Warning: it is not very easy to get by car at the hotel, but you can do it!
Conclusion: a very good low cost accommodation in the touristic center of Istanbul.

Room Tip: Last level rooms are big (triple rooms, I guess) and they has direct access to the hotel's terra...
