3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2012

The room was clean, lots of hot water. City view is definatly NOT worth the extra amount charged. We were forced to pay for a breakfast that was not provided due to a 09:40 flight.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were fourteen of us in three rooms that were all very clean and comfortable with good bathrooms and a fantastic one in the courtyard room. The breakfast was the best we've had in a month in Turkey easily. The location was great, near the sights like the blue mosque and in a neighborhood that felt authentic but safe enough for our 10 to 16 year old kids to go out for food by themselves.

Room Tip: The courtyard room (103) was the most spacious and best bathroom but didn't have a balcony or vi...

Just completed four nights at the Saruhan and we are coming back. Great location away from the really touristy parts of Sultanahmet. It is down near the water so you need to factor in some good up hill walking to get to the Blue Mosque etc. The staff are excellent, knowledgeable, helpful and even willing to give hints on simple Turkish phrases. I had an in depth discussion on the Gallipoli campaign with guests and reception staff. The breakfast was great and the setting on the terrace was spectacular. I really liked the local neighborhood feel of the place... Children's playground across the road, soccer field nearby... And a great local park around the corner. Try this place.

Room Tip: City view rooms are quieter.

Lovely place that's close enough to the Blue Mosque yet far enough that you feel like you're part of the local neighborhood. Reception people were fantastic in every way. Provided umbrellas when it rained, excellent directions, and tips.

Note: stayed in room 502 w/a sea view. If you're a light sleeper, I suggest staying somewhere else. There's a tram that passes by every so often and a park in front where kids are playing soccer into the night. Not an issue for me, but may be for others.

Nice place, breakfast is awesome specially jellys!
Very nice rooms, and cleanness.
It was very hard every night to find the hotel, even the taxi drivers had trouble to find it with our map in their hands and GPS too. The hotel is not far from Sultanahmet center, but you will find uphills all the way to it.

I stayed at the Saruhan with my girlfriend (January 2012) and it was better than ever could have been imagined. From day 1, the staff (Harun & others) were extremely helpful and gave us all the best advice about Istanbul (not to mention chit chat due to the staff being so friendly). If we had of had any problems in the hotel (which we did not), I am confident they would have sorted it out very quickly. The hotel is SUPER clean and the rooms and showers are very spacious (not at all cold even though in winter). The hotel could charge 5 times the amount and get away with it. Quiet, relaxing and with free internet service (laptop available at the front desk). The area is fantasticly located and allows you to experience a true Turkish neighbourhood, whilst being a 5 min walk from the Blue Mosque. Breakfast is FANTASTIC. Buffet on the terrace (great views) with all you can think of - honey, bread, tea, coffee, cereals, fruit, etc etc. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. We have travelled many places all over the world and this is the best yet that we have encountered. No negative comments in any shape or form. Top marks to the hotel and staff. Free tea and coffee at your leisure throughout the day. GREAT!! GREAT!! GREAT!!! Paul and Marta.
