“Ok for buzz and streetside location but food only average”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

Ok to visit once and price bearable at £40 for 2 including 2 courses each and wine. The Imam Bayildi and calamari not too bad. Main courses disappointing, fish good and waiter kindly filleted it for me but load of salad filling half the plate including 1/4 of a raw onion! No finesse at all. Aubergine and kofta kebab not great and another 1/4 onion on plate! Unexpected bonus for diners: free baklava and apple tea on the house. Waiters efficient but some didn't look happy with boss watching over them all the time. In general, diners looked happy and it might be worth one visit at least during your stay. Neon sign not attractive saying New Hatay Restaurant.

“Our last meal in Istanbul”
Reviewed October 16, 2013 via mobile

It was pouring rain and our waiter greeted me with an umbrella and a smile...our welcome was enough to like this restaurant. The atmosphere is great, we loved the carpet decoration outside. The food was excelent and prices where reasonable. They offered us coffee and tea on the house wich is nice. My wife loved the lamb chops and the chicken kebab is excelent. Nice place for a nice evening.

“Don't go but if you do, don't get the claypot”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

We were staying in the hotel across the street and they hassled us daily to come to their restaurant. We finally gave a in and wow we're disappointed. I ordered lentil soup to start wich was a watery veg soup. We were each going to order the lamb shish for main but they strongly guided us towards the clay pot saying it was the best dish. It was awful. The lamb was very low quality stewing meat which came in a bland tomatoe sauce. It was meant to come with boiled vegetables but we got 5 wedges each and a few carrot sticks. They gave us baklava on the house because they knew we were annoyed but that was no consolation when the whole meal was 150 lira.... There are way nicer places near by. Do Not go!

The staff was on their toes constantly, very friendly and efficient... loved meals at that spot...excellent food, not too expensive, variety of dishes to suit all tastes... it is surrounded by hotels and other restaurants with the same concept... I would go back again and again.
Best regards to all the staff, Maria from Argentina

“Welcoming”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

Friendly and welcoming staff. Ate here twice - three weeks apart- and at least two of the staff remembered that I had been there before which was pleasing.
Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Housewine was acceptable and came as generous serving.
Good location, close to all main transport routes and modes. Plenty of others in the area to compare, which I did,but when next in Istanbul will go back to Hatay every time.
