Witt Istanbul Suites
Ranked #8 of 1,159 Hotels in Istanbul
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 4, 2011

This is my first review ever in this website, although I'm a frequent traveller (essencially at leisure) and I have been to more than twenty different countries in Europe and Americas in the last ten years. I usually stay at 4 stars rated hotels or equivalent small boutique hotels. In general, even if I had appreciated very much the hotel I had stayed in, I usually forgot to write a review or never found the right time to do so.

This time, however, I decided to inaugurate my "review writing activity" specially due to this excellent experience I had at the Witt Istanbul Suites. I spent 5 days at this hotel and everything was pretty much perfect.

The room is spacious, well appointed, clean, modern and spotless. The same can be said of the bathroom. The multi-head shower is indeed great! Nice bedsheets and towels. Everyday the personnel left two delicious muffins in the room (this type of thing, although far from being indispensable, always reinforces my impression of being given a kind and attentive treatment). Wi-fi worked well.

Location is very good, a 5 to 10 minute walk from the nearest tram station (through a steep street), and maybe a 15 to 20 minute walk to reach Istiklal Street.

Breakfast, included in the rate, is good, although I believe the hotel should offer different options of items each day... maybe changing the selection of cheeses, juices, breads, jams, so that having breakfast would be a different experience every day for those staying a considerable number of nights at the hotel.

The personnel is simply outstanding: always nice, attentive, polite, and willingly ready to be of help all the times we needed some information or assistance of any kind. Adding to it, they had always a friendly and warm smile to offer to us, which is something very much valued and appreciated by me, but not so easily found at hotels around other European countries.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their previous reviews on Witt Istanbul Suites. It is a wonderful place and the folks from Emrah to Anil and the folks serving breakfast were excellent and very helpful. It was our first time in Istanbul and they made it very enjoyable.

Thank you.

The Witt Istanbul Suites is an amazing hotel. It is very well designed and the staff are super friendly. All of the receptionists provided great advice and their recommendations were spot on including the hairdresser and the 'börek' (a form of Turkish pastry) shop. I rarely had a more professional service in a hotel. The room was impeccably clean and quiet and came with free Wifi.

The breakfast in the hotel is truly amazing (the omelet is not to be missed). You are offered a rich choice and an added bonus is that you can have the breakfast in your room. The room has a small area to prepare tea etc. There is a Nespresso machine but the price for a capsule at 3 Euro a piece is a bit on the expensive side.

The location is perfect, right in the 'hip' part of Istanbul with lots of restaurants, bars and shopping. Traveling to the Old Town for sightseeing is very easy using the tram. This part of Istanbul is very hilly and the way up to the hotel is steep but short. If you don't like the steep hill, you can always use a taxi. The receptionists can order you one and they even give you instructions to show the taxi driver on your return.

It is surely a classy place with local charm and definitely one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in.

I stayed a few nights during the business trip.

Room was modern, spacious and high quality. As a room was located in upper floors of the building it also provided peaceful rest without noise from the street - not always the case in a big, noisy city like Istanbul.

Personnel was very friendly and always willing to help.

Having stayed in more than fifteen different five or four star hotels in Istanbul I rank this hotel to be among the best ones and considering the price/quality it scores even better.

Sincerely can recommend this hotel.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Witt. The decor was great (especially loved the quirky Mr Witt in the elevator), the rooms were fantastic, so spacious with everything you needed and more, as well as spotless. The beds were also very comfortable.

The service was outstanding, the concierge could do everything from book a restaurant for you to ordering food to your room late at night from a local restaurant, they were extremely helpful. The breakfast was also very good, the food was fresh with lots of choice.

The location is good, especially if you would like to go out at night, there are a lot of excellent fine dining choices in this area with great views over the city. The tram stop is not far to walk to and can take you into the old town quickly and easily for sight seeing. The main thoroughfare, Istiklal Caddessi, is close by too. Best to wear comfortable walking shoes though because even though everything is in relatively close proximity you are constantly going up and down steep walkways.

I would not hesitate to stay here again, it made our experience in Istanbul all the more outstanding!

I am writing this from my room at Witt as we speak it's so good. I stay in many hotels and I think this is the quietest and most comfortable place I have stayed. Not once have I been woken up by noise and I'm a light sleeper and in a normal room on the 3rd floor. The bed, pillows and mattress are top quality. we have managed to wash some clothes in the sink and dry them thanks to the under floor heating in the bathroom. The air cond is very quiet, the little cakes are a welcome treat. You need to be able to walk up hills on uneven surfaces to stay here but the location is great. couldnt recommend it highly enough. if you want to swim, go to the private pool at Galatasaray Island. It's a short taxi ride from Witt and about 60L each !! to get in but a fab day out like you're at a 5 star resort and a good break from walking the streets in the heat.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Witt Istanbul Suites has an excellent location within walking distance from Istanbul's business district, Istanbul Modern museum and the buzzing bars and boutiques of both Beyoglu and Cihangir. All 15 suites span a generous 60m2. They are popular for long-stay guests as each has a Carrera marble-clad kitchenette with microwave, fridge and Nespresso machine. The super-cool beds with curved headboards and the laptop desks have been especially designed for Witt Istanbul Suites by Autoban. Sheets and towels were also commissioned from Denizli, a famous purveyor of Turkish linen. Cable TV, an excellent DVD collection, ipod docks and a welcome gift of multi-coloured macaroons are indulgent touches. But it's the bathrooms that make these suites really special. The ergonomic Corian sinks with pebble-shaped handles and the cluster of shower-heads that create a cocoon of misty hot water are all from designer Ross Lovegrove's Istanbul collection from Vitra. ... more   less
