“An Exceptional Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

This is one of the most physically beautiful hotels we have ever seen. It is a Palace directly on the Bosphorus. Immaculately kept. Marble. Fountains. Inviting swimming pool. Dinner area set up right on the water. We stayed in a suite in the Palace with views directly onto the Bosphorus. It is a magical setting, especially in the evening with the moonlight literally shimmering on the water. The food is excellent. I have read other reviews concerning uneven service. I found that we had to try harder than usual (perhaps than we should have needed to) to communicate specific, unusual requests. For example, we asked for skim milk; instead we got yogurt milk. We just shrugged our shoulders and chalked this up to traveling in a foreign country. The staff is always ready to help and is quite friendly. If you are looking for extra fun, take a private boat ride that departs from the hotel. You won't forget it - ever!
One average point: I received a so-so spa treatment. Nothing special.
If you are on a budget, don't stay here. If you are just looking for an amazing experience in Istanbul, this is your hotel.

Room Tip: You can't beat the corner suite on the second floor of the Palace, overlooking the Bosphorus!

Now I have stayed at some of the great hotels in Europe and Asia, and this one is as beautiful as any. But we experienced enough service glitches to concern me. At each of our breakfasts the table service was bad and at one they actually forgot our breakfast order completely and brought the check but no breakfast - they seemed very disjointed. At dinner service was mediocre and they forgot to bring the wine we ordered for the main course until halfway finished after trying in vain to flag a waiter. We had brought to our room a large jar of special honey from southern Turkey that my wife had intended as a gift. Someone took it from our room - I suspect a maid thought it was to throw out. We reported it, hoping it was still sitting somewhere not thrown out, but it was not a huge deal-stuff happens. The hotel seemed to treat it as a major investigation, visiting our room, different people from management all investigating, profusely apologizing and promising us a wonderful jar of replacement honey. Then they all disappeared and we never heard a word or got our replacement honey- they did more harm than if they had just said "sorry - we threw it out". The people are all very friendly; to me this is bad management and coordination. Not the top tier, which is a shame for so beautiful a hotel.
Note: not so difficult to get to old city - cheap cab to trolley station- great trolley system AC!

Room Tip: It is much more expensive but if you want it to be an experience get a Bosporus view

We were delighted to be in this first class hotel, position, cuisine and comfort all excellent. Having stayed in this hotel a few times we can vouch for consistent quality. We had one problem that was attended to promptly and generously by the management. Look forward to returning next year.

Our room was fantastic with excellent boshorus view as boshorus palace room!!! The price is a bit high when we consider daily, but it really deserves to stay just one night at least in this life to feel the nature of boshorus in this hotel. Life is short, just drive...

We are a large party that have come to this hotel on holiday and we leave tomorrow for Rhodes Island, Greece. We are Four Seasons fans and can say, without any hesitation that this establishment ranks amongst the best hotels that we have EVER stayed at, and we have travelled the world. Firstly, the setting is sheer magic, right by the water with views that never cease to wow and amaze. From the moment we arrived from our Johannesburg flight early on Friday morning, the stay here has been outstanding in every way. The lobby is so plush and welcoming; and, oh, the fragrance that is diffused into the aircon system is so intoxicating. Imagine the thought of missing, among so many things in a hotel, the fragrance! That must surely be a first. Our rooms were ready so early in the morning and what rooms! Beautifully and so tastefully appointed in the manner to be expected from Four Seasons. Wonderful bathrooms, in marble with separate shower cubicles and the familiar L'Occitane toiletries. The pool area right by the Bosphoros just takes your breath away; as does the terrace and Aqua Restaurant were we have had our breakfasts each morning and a spectacular al fresco dinner on Friday night. What can I say? It was sheer magic. But I leave the best for last, and that is the service. It is outstanding in every way. My niece and her husband have been here with us with a little four year old girl and twin boys of 15 months. The hotel has been so child friendly and the staff go out of their way to assist them with anything they need. They have been overwhelmed by it all. We leave with regret tomorrow to continue our holiday but one thing is for sure; we will be back to this amazing hotel in this fantastic city.

Greetings from the beautiful shores of Bosphorus.

I don't think that I can thank you enough for taking the time to write such a detailed review and for sharing your comments so sincerely about your stay in July. I had goose bumps when I read your post, especially the part about outstanding service. Our employees are our biggest asset and it's so awarding to hear this kind of comments from our guests.

I must say that it made me very happy to also find out that you liked our hotel fragrance. We are currently working on a project and if you wouldn't mind, I kindly ask you to share your contact details with me at leonardo.baiocchi@fourseasons.com so that I can send you a bottle when we are finished to bring back the nice memories of Four Seasons Hotel Bosphorus.

From the moment we walked into the air-conditioned, beautiful, marble lobby we felt welcomed. We were immediately given fresh juice, checked in, and taken to our room. The staff was exceptional, making an effort to learn our names, (rare in such a large hotel!) In normal-four-seasons-style, there was a basket of fruit and goodies waiting for us in our room. At the four seasons there was a huge outdoor pool, by the Pool Grill, while also a beautiful marble lap pool indoors. We had a few spa treatments while we were there, which was wonderful. The spa had a hot tub and a selection of different scented steam rooms, which we enjoyed daily. The food at the Pool Grill restaurant was excellent, (we ate there twice for dinner, enjoying lighter fare) We did also enjoy a meal at the fancier restaurant. It was Ramadan, when we dinned at this restaurant, so we enjoyed a typical Turkish, massive, buffet feast; complete with live music. The buffet breakfast was also spectacular, so many options they had, for us to chose from. We had an included breakfast rate, otherwise we would have not wanted to pay $50 a person for such a breakfast selection, when all we really wanted was toast. The grounds were beautifuly landscaped and the view on the Bosphuros was like none other. We stayed in the new part of the hotel, instead of the original palace. If you can do it, the original palace had nicer rooms -- though much more expensive! We had a tour and lunch at the four seasons at Sultanahmet, and we were then much happier that we chose to stay on the water. We had dinner next door at the Kempinski Palace (the hotel we were considering staying at). While we enjoyed the dinner (and would highly reccomend their formal resturant) it actually felt dated and much more commercial than the four seasons. If I ever find myself in Istanbul again, there will be no hesitation on where to stay.

Location is ok, along the Besphours, but really nothing on the Besphore, I mean it is far from the heart of Istanbul, almost in exclusive area, room size are good, food are average but too expensive, I can say there are several hotels in the same area with lower price and better view

Room Tip: rooms over looking the Besphours
