Description: Considered one of the top seafood restaurants in Istanbul, Arsipel has been perfecting its refined food offer. Drawing inspiration from its Bosphorus surroundings as well as Mediterranean cooking techniques and international flavours, Arsipel pays homage to its ingredients themselves, with a graceful simplicity at the heart of the cooking, enhancing and elevating the fish.

Phantastic fish restaurant approx 7 km from city center (Taksim). Your cab ride risk to take some time if you go at an hour when all Istanbul is driving away from downtown. But you probably will need only 10 minutes to go back.
The restaurant is seperated from the Bosphorus by a street and a park only - the view from 1st floor is nice (ground floor is another restaurant - sushi). Service is phantastic, the mezzes also. You choose your foot in the kitchen if you want to. Selection of fish is very large. We had a fish called 'sinarit' - it translates to 'common dentex' - which was extremely tasty. Winelist is full of good propositions.
Count TL 150,-- per person. Not cheap for Istanbul but really worth it!

It is one of the fish restaurant to go for a foreigner visiting Istanbul although there are many alternatives in town. Food taste and quality, service, price, neighbourhood and the atmosphere are the reasons to choose this restaurant. The mezes are great! We had a wonderfull tilepia fish(Dülger balığı).

It is not my first time in that restaurant. Happily, I see them improving each time I eat there. From cold starters to main course, everything have authentic tastes, cooked to perfection. The ambiance also is quite enjoyable, especially if you are at the windows side. Then, why four stars and not five? Simply because, after such delicacies, normally you look for a wide range of equally delicious desserts, which unfortunately they have very few and not interesting. Having said that, Arsipel is a must for every seafood lover.

The owner do Arsipel is fish merchant and sushi enthusiast. So, the restaurant is divided into two sections - sushi on the ground floor and a more traditional fish restaurant on the second. We ate upstairs. Our main course, sole, was grilled perfectly and deboned table side. More interestingly, the mere, while containing many traditional seafood offerings, also had a few that were clearly Asian influenced. Can't wait to go back and try the downstairs restaurant.
The restaurant is located in Kurucesme, just across from the park.
