We booked Santa Sophia Hotel and instead they put us in Kupeli hotel next to them. It was a total nightmare! Uncomfortable bed, very dark room and no hot water in the morning. I think it is not even a 2 star hotel. Avoid at all costs! You have been warned!

Room Tip: I would never come back to this hole.

If someone asked me to describe Hotel Kupeli in three words, I can describe it as "Good location, nice hotel, friendly staff" and plus delicious breakfast at the terrace. Thanks to the hotel`s staff Ozgur, Deniz, Abdullah, Aladdin, Aykut and Gulseren. Hope we will stay again at this hotel during our next Istanbul visits..

I stayed at Kupeli Hotel with my family of four for eight days. The hotel is close to most of the attractions, old bazaar, tram stop.

All the staff were amazing very helpful specially Abdulla, Abdul Rehman, Ozgur, Deniz and Allahuddin.

Never ever take a tax, they will really take you for a ride (blood suckers, dis-honest). I bought a tram card (like Oyster Card) top it up and you can travel on a tram, bus even ferry with a discounted fare. I topped it up for 60 Tukish Lira and used it with four family members for eight days every where including Taskim square, Dolmbache Palace still less than a Lira was left on it on our return. You can get back your card deposit around 7-8 Lira when you surrender it at the airport or any local shop.

Some of the hotel rooms are very small even though it says double bedroom specially room 302 you can hardly move around. The window opens in a yard not a pleasant view. The room 301 window is half covered by another wall and there is a big exhaust which makes noise all the time. There is no in room coffee or tea facility but as I mentioned whenever we need coffee or water staff were happy to provide room service with a smile.

Syed from Sheffield. UK

Room Tip: The Room 301 is very specious but the only window in the room was half covered by another wall right...

W.hat you get is to be in a great location in the heart of Sultanahmet, Istanbul. Never took a taxi, just walked to most places such as grand and spice bazaars, mosques, and took a big bus to get around town. The staff are what makes this hotel such a pleasant stay: Ozgur, Allattin, Ali Baba and anyone's name I missed, so helpful and friendly day and night. Some good kebab shops and even a local supermarket too, can't go wrong here. Breakfast was good with lots to choose from. Remember to try Apple Tea too!

Room Tip: Let's say room 401 is a bit cozy, but you're not there to spend all day in it are you

The hotel is overrated in all reviews, the pictures look very nice but the reality is very different. The installations looks outdated, need some TLC, the double room that we stayed in was so small, we couldn't move around, the bed was against the wall in a corner, uncomfortable to get out of, no place to put the luggage, TV set very small, the bed linen was old and a suspicious color, the comforter on the bed needs a good wash. I think they don't replace it, use the same over and over again, bath towels were disgusting, they were raggedy with several holes, unacceptable. The positive things was related to the good hospitality, all staff was very nice and kind, ready to answers all your request, especially Abdullah, had a good location, close to the mayor touristic and historic sites, The Two Mosques, the Grand Bazaar, etc

The hotel is simple and comfortable. It is very well located, is quiet, the breakfast is tasty and I enjoyed, mainly, because of the people who work there. They are thoughtful, kind, pleasant. You feel like you are at home. I really like to meet Özgür, Abdullah, Aland, Deniz and Aykut, they are very special people!
