“Excellent hotel, pleasant staff and great location!”
Reviewed January 7, 2012

I stayed here in 2008 and had a fantastic trip in Istanbul due to the location of the hotel. The rooms are great, the staff couldnt do enough to help you and i even had a turkish bath at the spa which was fantastic! :) I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Hotel was well located, clean and staffed with the usual friendly and informative Turkish staff that one expects in Istanbul. Nevertheless it is not "Premier," "Regency," all "Suites" nor does it feature a "Spa" as anyone would expect a spa to be. Breakfast was cheap. One major issue that I had was that they seem to have erroneously installed industrial "Airwick" air fresheners in all of the bathrooms (see photo) which reek of faux citrus. I woke up the first morning and really felt like I had been chewing on a Febreze all night. Of course I asked housekeeping to shut it off and they said they did but actually didn't. I'm very kind to hotels in general as per my other reviews and there is nothing desperately wrong with this hotel, it's just grossly overrated.

What many reviewers don't tell you and one thing I would have found interesting is that this hotel is on the same street and attached to many other small hotels. For instance Millenium hotel is right next to this hotel. There are quite a few others including another Best Western. All within a few walking steps (10 seconds) of each other.

As others have mentioned, this is a perfect location. Excellent street with lots of food and the hotel is quiet with friendly people, great breakfast and the convenience cannot be beat.

Our family enjoyed the stay and would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here for business back in October. Good location in Sultanahmet, right around the corner from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Walking distance to the Grand Bazaar, quick tram ride to the Spice Bazaar. Staff was very friendly and helpful, breakfast was good and there was lots of variety. Rooms were very modern and clean and spacious. I wandered up to the rooftop terrace but it was closed for weather. Good stay.

We (family of 2 adults & 2 kids) stayed in this hotel for a week in October 2011. It is a perfect location for visitng Istanbul. Within easy walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia, bus trips etc. The hotel staff were all extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. The kids were especially made a fuss of. The bedrooms were exactly as they appear on the hotel website and everywhere was spotlessly clean, particularly the bathroom. Can't praise it highly enough. The buffet breakfast was simple and enough to get us going for the day. We ate here in the evening a couple of times and there was plenty of choice and the food was good. There are many restaurants around the hotel area- we tried many as our youngest didn't want to travel too far in the evening. The hotel arranged the airport transfer without problem and also booked our trip on The Bosphorous. Pick up from the hotel and drop off if we had wanted it. I would certainly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for the perfect base for their holiday in Istanbul. It was ideal for a family group. Above all, I would like to mention the friendliness of all the staff at the hotel and thank them all for making our first trip to Istanbul enjoyable. We will certainly be coming back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to the Istanbul Art De Vivre!Located at he heart of Istanbul between Europe and Asia, the GLK PREMIER Regency Suites Hotel & Spa commands an extensive view of a relatively small area that has nonetheless witnessed 2000 years of the history of some of the richest civilisations humanity has ever known: Ancient, Greece the Roman Empire, The Byzantine Empire and the Ottoman Empire! It is only a few steps from the Blue Mosque, Saint Sophie and Topkapi Palace. The hotel, a lovely mansion built in 1905, is a listed historic monument today. The elegance of its origin is still amply visible in the neo-classical moulding on the facade and the solid wood or beige Bursa granite floors. Numerous details and features in the house bear witness to a world of such sophistication that its sultans are portrayed holding a flower. The hotel's rugs, like the motifs on the walls, seem to have stepped straight out of the Topkapi Palace. As century old traditions require, the hammam of the GLK PREMIER Regency Suites Hotel & Spa features a suite of three rooms with different functions: hot room, warm room and cool room. The hotel is equally dedicated to maintaining state-of-the-art international hotel standards, which rather than detracting from its historic past, leave its guests free to savour and appreciate this heritage. In this way, the GLK PREMIER Regency Suites Hotel & Spa distils the quintessence of Istanbul's distinctive lifestyle, particularly from its 16 suites:the dome of the Blue Mosque surrounded by six slender minarets, the monotonous chant of the muezzin, the enchanting hush that reigns over the city in the morning, the sweetly scented Topkapi Park, the view of Bosphorous or the Marmara Sea on which the Prince's Islands seem almost to float or its mouth-watering exotic cuisine, etc. The justly dubbed 'Golden Horn', which the hotel overlooks, sumptuously sums up the inexhaustible wealth of this matchless location. ... more   less
