“Good for your first day in Uzbekistan”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

While it seems insignificant after touring khiva, bukkhara and/or samarkand, the buildings in old Tashkent are actually worth a visit, and would be impressive if the rest of the country didn't offer such spectactular sights.

“Interesting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2013

It gives an impression of how people of low income deal with the frequent, distructive earthquakes. Houses are made of a mud-straw mixture and covered by sheet-metal roofs; temporary and cheep solutions. Many entrance doors, on the contrary, are wooden, nicely sculptured!
In my opinion, Tashkent does not give a good example of an old Uzbek city. Bukhara and Khiva are much more enchanting as old cities!

“Chorsu Bazaar”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2012

I enjoyed the Chrosu Bazaar - large, bustling and colourful and it was relatively easy to take the subway directly there from the city centre.
