It gives an impression of how people of low income deal with the frequent, distructive earthquakes. Houses are made of a mud-straw mixture and covered by sheet-metal roofs; temporary and cheep solutions. Many entrance doors, on the contrary, are wooden, nicely sculptured!
In my opinion, Tashkent does not give a good example of an old Uzbek city. Bukhara and Khiva are much more enchanting as old cities!
