“Substandard hotel, uneven service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2011

I am quite disappointed with this hotel - staff service was uneven and rooms uninspiring. Whereas reception staff were nice and helpful, certain pool bar/breakfast area staff were less than stellar. On the first night, I asked for an iron, was promised one, and then it never came. I called back, and was promised an iron the following morning. Needless to say, it never appeared in the morning either, until I called again, twice, and after I heard some story about no available irons, fully booked rooms, etc, etc!

At the pool bar, I was first told that we should be charged a fee of US$5 each for an item of food that we brought from the outside (we brought a melon), and then the fee was waived "as an exception". Another staff member, when asked about this policy had no idea about it, so I am only assuming that this was invented by the first waiter. The melon was served, and then we were promised that it would be brought up to our rooms. We never saw it again.

Then, a pool attendant refused to bring an extra towel to us, but then finally did, only after I insisted, and made a huge deal about it.

The rooms are small and dark, the air conditioning was either too cold or too hot, no happy medium, and difficult to regulate. I hope not to stay at this hotel again and am counting on better options in Tashkent next time.

This one equivalent to the Radissons in Europe these days, which made it one of the top chain Hotels in Tashkent, especially as the price was a good deal lower than the 5-stars. Just be sure to first have your money changed at the 'good' rate and not at the Hotel. Excellent comfort standard in room, with internet, and an air conditioner that was strong enough to beat the July heat. Sauna, gym, facility good although a little cramped. Nice pool, but they sell memberships to outsiders so it got crowded at about 5 pm and on the weekend. Restaurant good, but many options a short walk away. Fee of about fifty dollars for guest to join in room, even for short-term.

Very nice hotel, good service and friendly staff. Breakfast and restaurant are OK (very good pizza – you can have it also in the restaurant, just ask!). The outdoor pool is available only in the summer. The gym is very small (just 3 training machines). Free internet access. It’s not possible to open the window in your room (why?). Quite expensive for the level of life in town, but good international standard.

The service level I experienced in this hotel is the best I experienced so far in Central Asia. You really get the feeling that staff and management care about you. The rooms are nice, functional and clean. Only the shower water could be a little bit more hot at times. The breakfast buffet is excellent and the coffee here is really good as well (which is rare in Central Asia). The prices at the hotel bar a little bit too exaggerated. The sauna could be designed a little bit more friendly and relaxing, but is at least available till 23.00 p.m. and thus can be used after a long business day.

Overall we are satisfied with our stay. What would I like to stay in favour of this hotel? Firstly, the hotel is brand new and everything is still very fresh - rooms, bathrooms. restaurant etc. Secondly, the staff is very professional, attentive and ready to assist or simply greet you. Thirdly, the Bosphorus restaurant is much more than a simple hotel restaurant and it can boast with really good food and service. The latter, I must say, is very important for a business traveller in Tashkent since it's rather hard to find a good place to eat in this city. However the hotel has two major shortcomings. The beds (and linen as well) are very uncomfortable and the hotel itself faces a very noisy street (with trams also!!!) - so it's not a good place to have a restful sleep.

Thank you very much for your kind review of our hotel. Keeping the hotel in good condition is a priority for the management, as well as assuring guests that our customer service can not be beaten. I am dissapointed to hear that your stay with us was clouded by the noisy street, but I promise you, that during your next stay we will provide a garden view room which will fully satisfy your sleeping and relaxing habits. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

we stayed here for four nights.
Its a very high standard hotel, but way overpriced for Tashkent.
Its in a great location for local restaurants.
Was mainly used by Internaional business types, on expense accounts.
Nothing special really, four times the price of the Hotel Uzbekistan where we'd previosly stayed and not a great deal of difference,

Thank you for choosing Radisson Blu Tashkent for your stay. It is a great pleasure to hear that you've had some pleasant experiences with us, but as the manager of the hotel I will only be fully satisfied with the services we provide after I have the opportunity to show you as our guest that there is a great difference between the our hotels and the hotel which has accomodated you previously. Next time you return to Tashkent, please stay with Radisson Blu and do not hesitate to contact me directly for an entertaining house tour. See you soon.
