“Excellent view”
Review of Tashkent TV tower

Tashkent TV tower
Reviewed February 20, 2013

You can see most parts of Tashkent from tower. Very beautiful and high tower. They also have restaurant on the 6th or 7 th floor, but service and food quality is awful. I only had to drink tea. But the pleasant thing is, restaurant floor is turning round and you will turn around the restaurant while sitting on your table. Nice idea.

The nearest metro station to the TV tower is “Bodomzar” from where there is a straight walk of around one KM. Please note the locals call the TV tower “Tele Minara”. The TV tower is an impressive structure built during Soviet times. The tower has useful information / models on display at ground floor about TV towers and their history around the world. The TV tower not only serves as a TV transmitter but also is being used for weather, mobile transmission etc purposes! You will have to show your passport while purchasing the ticket. There are free lockers available at the ticket counter where you can put your stuff. A “slow” lift is there to take you upstairs. The observation area is an impressive site to have great views of Tashkent city. I really enjoyed bird eye view of Tashkent from there. There is also a restaurant there but I didn’t try anything there. You may experience a large crowd waiting outside the lift on your way back so be patient! Once finished, you may consider going to the neighboring “Milit Polov”, best Polov restaurant(traditional Uzbek cooked rice) in Tashkent!

The TV Tower is the highest construction in the Central Asia which is located in the heart of Tashkent, Uzbekistan. It has an overall height of 375 meters. Its construction began in 1979 and was completed in 1981. Its construction incorporates an ability to withstand Richter magnitude 9 earthquake. The lattice styled tower trunk is supported by three inclined slips, which ensure the building's steadiness and give an impression of lightness.

220 meters height of the tower are used for arranging of the most modern means of communication: satellite TV, cellular and paging communication. Tashkent TV tower broadcasts 5 televisions, 4 radio broadcasting programs. Tashkent TV Tower has the highest meteorological station.

I love this place.

Cumbersome entry-$15-silly security-OK view-crazy restaurant! Miss it UNLESS it's a day with unlimted visibility. Just not worth it, sorry.....
