Well, with a name like the 'Royal Pub' we'd already guessed what we might be in for and we were pleasently surprised. Whilst the frontage doesn't appear much in a line of new shops on Mahsum (formerly Ismail Somoni), the bar and restaurant lies downstairs where there is a large aladdins cave of British nostalgia. The place is decorated throughout with photos, pictures and murals and the staff are all decked in Royal Stewart tarten.
The place vibrated with video screens and music and there's live entertainment too. However, we were the only visitors - it may be too early to judge how this experience will go down in Central Asia.
