Bawa Personally Approved Fernando Taking Over His Beloved Property And Converting It Into A Restaurant And Art Gallery And Respected Shanth's Design Sense In The Conversion And Renovation Of The Building To Complement His Own. Bawa's Only Input Was The Location Of The Main Pavilion Where Most Diners Are Seated. The Art Gallery Features Regularly Changing Exhibitions By Established And Emerging Local Artists, For Sale. As The Cafe Is Open From 10am Through To Midnight Daily, Visitors Frequent The Property For Meals, Site Seeing, Coffee, Cake, Shopping And The Complimentary Wi-fi Available For Use Of Patrons. The Gallery Cafe's Menu Has Not Changed In Years As Regulars Have Their Favourites And Fernando Prides Himself On The Fact That They May Always Return For That Option. It Is Particularly Known For Its Cocktails And Desserts As Well As It's Consistently 'good Food.'

Where someone did not think you would find a restaurant this heavenly niche opens up into a small paradise, with discreet interior and an atmosphere of intimacy.

Service was slow during our meal, but the menu offers an innovative list of mouthwatering dishes. We selected steak, chicken and tuna. The steak was excellent. The chicken slightly overcooked, and the tuna which was ordered as mediume/rare came in well done. The kitchen has a way to go to live up to the expectations the menu gives.

Prices are high for starters, and a total in excess of 6000 LKR for 2, incl 2 beer each is on the high side. With better kitchen and service this restaurant has the potential to be the best of them all.

A lovely haven away from the traffic of Colombo - peaceful and beautifully designed. Food was of international standard - more pricey than most places but this is a very lovely spot. Highly recommended.

First thing is first: This venue is stunning. It exudes quality and an artistic ambiance indicative of quirky art cafes across the European continent. The paintings and sculptures range from modern, to provocative to classic art.
The water art and sculptures were also very nice.

Service: This is the reason why I dropped this to a 4. Unfortunately, due to us coming with some Sri Lankan friends, it seemed as though service was a lot slower for us compared to the Caucasian crowd we had there. We were also from abroad, and when they realised, they increased the pace of service. However, I wouldn't expect the level of service to be altered depending on your race or your where you live.

Food: The food was nice, especially the cakes and desserts. However the price is a bit more than usual places in Colombo.

Overall, a very nice experience in a nice location where I would love to relax.

Had the Thai fish cakes which were disgusting and not fresh, and after complaining about them, was still charged RS 800 for two measly pieces and nothing was done about it. The food is massively overpriced and mediocre in standard and the service is rubbish.
