Stunning hotel. Great decor.

Overly flash and expensive for budget backpacker but ideal for mid to upper range traveller.

Helpful staff. Good location. Tuck tuck to the fort, nearby restaurants and sea front is about 100 rupees (50 pence on a meter)

Near to train station for transport to kandy.

Great place to ease you into Sri lankan travel.

The location is ok, walking distance or close tuk tuk drive to the city centre. But definetely nobody around knows about the place there is an awareness problem. Our driver asked to 5 different people to fins where is the hotel including to a government official and at the end we found the hotel with our gps through mobile even if it is not really difficult. Staff is friendly, food is delicious. The only thing is you should definitely ask at the time of your booking they should not give you a room on the ground floor next to the kitchen/restaurant, at the first sight you will not be happy and it will not worth what you pay for. It is really noisy after a long flight.

On the other hand, the small pool with lilies were really nice and i guess the cutest part of the hotel.

We stayed at Lake Lodge on our first two nights of our Sri Lankan holiday. We arrived late in the evening after a long haul flight and 2 hour airport transfer (stuck in rush hour traffic). It was such a pleasant place to arrive, we were warmly greeted by the staff who whisked our bags away, gave us a welcome drink then showed us to our room. They offered us an evening meal, which we ordered, unpacked then sat down to one of the best currys we had in the whole holiday.

Our room was spacious, clean and well equipped. Although a little dark it was still a pleasant room to rest in and we soon recovered from our jet lag and long flight.

The hotel is down a small lane and feels like a long way from the hustle and bustle of Colombo. Although the location is very central, minutes from the lake and a short walk from the sea. Most attractions are close by or a short tuk tuk ride away.

The service was very friendly but not intrusive. We enjoyed our food here so much we ate dinner here both nights. The breakfast was very good too and they also made a breakfast to take away with us when we checked out for an early train.

We loved our stay in Lake Lodge and we would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful, relaxing stay in Colombo

Lake Lodge has excellent service. It can't be beat. I had the need to refrigerate some medicine and they fetched it for me twice daily and were very pleasant about it. The food here was delicious: breakfast, lunch and dinner-Sri Lankan and western.

The hotel is owned by a top designer in Sri Lanka and her renovation of this hotel which is about 40 years old is unique and very pleasing. The desk, bed platform, bedside tables are all in concrete that is beautifully finished with rounded edges. I loved this place and would definitely stay here again. It is in a good quiet location.

This is an unusual place but my family and I liked it. Not sure about facilities, but the room was good, as was breakfast. Staff very friendly and prompt with service. Great place to kick off your holiday in SL. We popped round the corner to the Mango Tree and it was also nice.
