The building is beautiful piece of architecture. We quickly went through the museum in an hour and a half but you can spend up to three hours in it.

The museum, which normally has an entry fee SLR 500 had slashed the prices down to 50% since some galleries were closed for renovation. Decent initiative. We went through about 5 galleries which were large in itself.

The museum building was huge and colonial styled. Well maintained. Closes at 5 though. Should get it in minimum by 3:30 pm (with the closed galleries situation) to take your time around.

The cafeteria was basic. The adjoining Laksala store was quite good with a large range of products. Pricey maybe, but good collection. The banyan tree within the museum ground is worth a pic.

Tip: Return to the entrance to board your tuk-tuk/cab to any other location. Although the entry/exit on the side of Victoria Park is nice (with park view), traffic is sparse and trishaws don't come about frequently.

I liked this building very much, the artefacts inside were so so. We came here on a rainy afternoon. Cheap admission fee.

We both enjoyed the visit, my Sri Lankan partner paid 25 rupees but I had to pay 300 rupees.
Then to visit another part of the museum, they asked for more money, so we left.
As museums go it was interesting but.....I am not a lover of museums they did have some interesting features, e.g living working models and settings.
