We stayed here for 3 nights and would highly recommend this hotel for anyone not too concerned with high-end rooms, (above adequate but not 'outstanding' if that's what you are after) but the level of service from the incredibly helpful small team of staff was the best we've experienced in 6 months of travel. And the breakfasts are out of this world - always go for the Sri Lankan option!

The manager, Kavinga was approachable, helpful and very interested in ensuring our stay was top notch, and a fantastic end to our travels.

Its small personal and the staff were really attentive. Great value for money if you like character and personal attention. Found a great vegetarian restaurant round the corner too! (Go out onto main road turn right its about 200m on side you are on - over the bridge)

A little gem of a hotel and tastefully decorated that inspires a welcoming 'Zen' and relaxing atmosphere which makes for an enjoyable stay. The spacious room and well fitted bathroom were of a high standard and plenty of hot water, as well as, TV, fridge, kettle, a/c and a small balcony - it's a great find and the best accommodation I stayed at during a months' tour of the country.
Arun, the manager (who speaks excellent English), provides excellent customer service and attention to detail for guests and really goes the extra mile to ensure your stay is pleasant and comfortable. Great breakfast with a good choice of fresh European or Sri Lanka delights and delicious juices and local fruit. Highly recommend this charming and friendly hotel.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights here in January and we are very pleased we picked this hotel. Although a little out of the center(Colombo 5) it is located in a quiet residential area away from the main road. A very good vegetarian Indian restaurant within walking distance. We managed to get the local bus into Colombo center which was very cheap and did not take long. Make sure you stop off at Barefoot Gallery and cafe for local crafts and linens (on the very long Galle Road).
The hotel itself had a lovely welcoming feel with spacious rooms and bathrooms and some lovely antique furniture. We had a four poster bed and a big wardrobe (something we did not get in all accomodation in Sri Lanka!) Some problems with the pressure of the shower but the staff were very helpful in trying to sort it out. Lovely hot water too.

All staff so lovely and friendly and helpful. Arun, the manager was great and couldn't do enough for us. He even packed us a small lunch to take on our train journey to Anuradhapura. One night one of the staff went out to get us some bottles beer as we could not find a shop to buy any.

The breakfasts were great with good choices. The only downside (if it was a downside!) was that there was only 1 dining table so sometimes had to wait for breakfast if someone there before us - but hey no one rushes in Sri Lanka and we learnt to chill!!

Every morning the owner came to the hotel to chat to the guests and was so helpful, even taking us on a short trip around the area to show us the main sights.

Overall a very pleasant stay and we will definitely recommend to our friends and family.

Room Tip: If you have heavy bags go for room on first floor.

I can only recommend this hotel to people who prefer to feel an exceptional atmosphere rather then getting full 4 star services. This place is very small, something like 6 rooms, so you can not expect services like in a chain hotel. The rooms are big, equipped with nice original historical furniture. The hotel staff were trying their best so it made us feel very welcome. And the breakfast? Go for srilankan traditional breakfast. Potato curry with rothi and pineapple juice was so delicious. Would definitely choose this hotel again when staying in Colombo.

Room Tip: Book a room that includes breakfast, it is worth it.

Stayed in a nice room with a balcony. It's in Colombo 5 so not quite in the "downtown" (Colombo 1) but nevertheless a decent location and good vibe. Only a short tuk-tuk ride from the Gallery Cafe which became my favorite restaurant!
Nicely decorated and with all the conveniences - hot shower, wi-fi, big breakfast. In fact the A/C died in the middle of the night and the manager let us move rooms (just to sleep!) which was very kind considering it gets hot in Sri Lanka.

Myself and my husband travelled to Sri Lanka last summer and we were so glad that we chose the reed boutique hotel. The rooms were excellent, breakfast was too good, and the staff were beyond helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better experience in Sri Lanka. Thoroughly recommended.
