We stayed at the Reed hotel for 1 night stop over before leaving the country.

The hotel exceeded my expectations. It was very nice and cozy inside. The entrance was decorated in Sri Lankan style.
We got a very tasty welcome drink on arrival. Our room was big and spacious with a nice bathroom.

The owner served us breakfast at 5 o’clock in the morning and ordered a nice taxi for us (sometimes in Sri Lanka you can get a very old car with no seat belts or AC).

There are a lot of nice restaurants in a walking distance from the hotel.
The hotel can be difficult to find, so if you are in Sri Lanka already, I recommend to call to the hotel and let the taxi driver talk to them, so they could explain how to get there.

I would definitely stay at this hotel one more time.

Room Tip: rooms on the second floor are nice. the stairs are very steep, so I wouldn't like to stay on the top floors.

I must agree that the hotel is hard to find for a first time visitor, I would recommend arranging some form of transport. A large development coming up across in the main street outside would be a good reference point for taxis and tuk-tuks. Arun, who received us on check-in was very good in advising us on how to get around the city. His assurance about taking only metered tuk-tuks put us at ease about traveling around with local transportation. Arun's recommendations about restaurants around the hotel and in Colombo central were very much appreciated. .

Room Tip: No lift, so if you are not used to climbing up stairs, ask for a room on the first floor.

A small boutique hotel located in a quiet cul-de-sac of a busy main road not far from central Colombo.
Difficult to find for either tuk-tuks or taxis as it is so new and in a little known street. Needs putting on their map and the sign for the hotel is very small and difficult to see in the dark.
The manager tries hard to please but sometimes fails to get it quite right! Nevertheless 10 out of 10 for effort.
The place is full of antique furniture and artefacts, both Sri Lankan and Dutch colonial style.
Rooms are spacious with a bath tub in the good sized bathroom.
The bed is a comfy king size and there is both fan and air-con in the room.
There is also a room safe and coffee/tea making facilities.
Free wi-fi throughout is pretty good but can be a tad spasmodic - not the hotel's fault though!
Good location for peace and quiet and for getting in to town.
No alcohol on sale within close proximity of the Buddhist temple but not too far to go to find a liquor store. You can bring it back to the hotel and there is a mini frig in the room to keep it chilled.
Western breakfast can be ordered with omelettes and fillings to order, such as mushrooms, onion or tomato.
Free laundry is on offer and taxis arranged by the manager for getting you to the airport.
We had to be at the airport very early so we were glad this was done for us and instructed the driver to use the express-way as it is far quicker at a little extra toll cost.
Also manager kindly got us checked-in on-line from his office computer so we didn't have to check-in quite so early!
Well done to him and his staff for their efforts to please.

Room Tip: front of hotel, upstairs on 2nd floor.

I made a mistake and booked the wrong date at this hotel which mistake went unnoticed as the correct date was confirmed via fb by the management. Anyhow when I turned up the hotel was full. The management made no effort whatsoever to help me in my obvious moment of panic ! They were brash and rude. Couldn't get me off their premises fast enough. Luckily my tour guide was still outside and helped me get a room somewhere else. I hope this is not the level of service they give their customers !!

We had a a transit stay in Colombo, and this hotel was chosen which was budget friendly. The place can be improved to attract more tourists.
The good things include the Friendly and very helpful staff (Specially Arun), The hotel was fairly clean. The breakfast was really nice. The room service was available allways regardless of the time.
Things to ponder upon:
The location was very difficult to find for our taxi driver as the hotel was very far from the airport (normal road could take 2 hours and charge around 3000LKR (USD1 = LKR 128), whereas from Highway , around 300 LKR more, but will take only 30 minutes from airport.
The hotel location is not very well known , and was uneasy for the driver to locate.

The Rooms are smaller at least the ones on the top floor and the decor needs to be upgraded. Bathroom kit (Shampoo, toothpaste etc.) was missing.

Since the location was green, the place needed to be fumigated much more regularly as there were few mosquitoes present .

Overall, a budget friendly option in Colombo.

Room Tip: Do not book on the top floor as the stair make you tired after a hectic day.
