Most of the star class hotels I have been to, do make one mistake. They make their dishes so plain for the sake of foreign tourists. Not this one. The dishes they offered was full of so many Spicy tastes and less chilies understandably. You have a large variety to choose from be it western or eastern. (Black Pork Curry and Egg Plant Moju was Awesome) Loved the relaxed atmosphere and the helpful staff.

If you like to be outside you can enjoy sea breeze which is very relaxing. We went there with another couple with two kids and had a very nice dinner experience.

Colombo is mushrooming up with a lots of hotels now, thanks to its tourism friendly policy. The Kingsbury, situated on the seashore of India Ocean is the best in its class and value for money, I loved its sea facing restaurant and the services were impeccable ...

Room Tip: You must ask for sea facing rooms as all cost the same but location can make a big difference...

We stayed for 1 night, before returning to the airport. The hotel is really the best we have stayed in Sri Lanka. We absolutely enjoyed top of the line cosmetics, bed linen and very large choice of foods for breakfast and dinner.
As we found out from locals, this hotel is the hottest spot in town; therefore there was too much (local) traffic in the dining area for our taste. Roof top bar is also nice, but we couldn’t buy “wanna be fancy” dress code also for hotel guests.

I stayed for 10 nights. The service was consistently good. My room was tend to at the same high standard every day. When you stay at a hotel for so long, you can see several levels of service.
The breakfast was excellent. I was looking forward to the fresh fruit every day. There are dishes for every taste. From traditionally Sri Lankan breakfast to traditional bacon and eggs. The coffee is soooo awfullll, but I ordered Cappuccino and that was very good. Service at breakfast was all so good.

I did have an unfortunately bad incident in the hotel, but the personal responded immediately and offered help.

Room Tip: Try and get a sea view room

Stayed here the night before flying to dubai. Overall some positive and some negatives. Nice public areas. We loved the location right by the sea and the Dutch hospital. The sky bar was great - fabulous views good cocktails and we stumbled in at happy hour so that was a bonus! Pool area was nice except for the noisy trucks working opposite. Rooms and bathrooms are a bit small and thin walls (we could hear next door making a cuppa!). Safe in the room was in a drawer and didn't seem very secure. They need to keep on top of maintenance as some areas starting to look shabby - light not working etc. having said that I would stay again if the price was right

Having staying at the cinnamon grand hotel for the last 8 years it was a big decision to try the Kingsbury....all in all we are pleased we did.we stayed in the executive floor.
I will start with the positives first... The beds were excellent so comfortable. The room is a tad small but very well appointed and a lovely bathroom but with shower only( not an issue for me),the public areas are lovely ,a great selection of good quality restaurants, especially the fish restaurant .
The pool was stunning and the rooftop sky lounge was a great place for a drink.
As we were on the exec floor we had use of the lounge....this I have to say was the main disappointment ... It was more like a small formal lounge rather than a comfortable lounge ....there were no armchairs or sofas just rather uncomfortable chairs. Also a poor selection of snacks in the eve but the biggest issue was that their timings for evening drinks and snacks was 5 to 7 pm,which starts and finishes too early for us as often we don't finish work and get back to the hotel until
7 pm...the staff in the lounge were excellent especially Milroy and Asanga.
Other slight negatives .... Generally the staff ,although friendly are not up to standard yet.The gym is very small and not that well equipped.
But all in all a very comfortable hotel

Room Tip: Book an executive floor room
