First Impression : Not the best "High Tea" in Colombo

The "High Tea" area is situated close to the pool exit near the coffee shop. It feels like the hotel had some extra space in the lobby and decided to put up a "High Tea" menu there. I was not at all happy with the setting, the only reason they seem to have this menu is because all the other hotels in Colombo have "High Tea".

The food spread was very poor and given the price you can have a much better "High Tea" experience in any other Colombo hotel. The sandwich station was utterly pointless few patrons even went there. The tea station is a nice touch but they need to work on the quality of the teas served. The selection of food(savory) was very small and contained mostly fried items. The dessert(sweet) items were equally bad and had a chocolate fountain with strange dippings. Management seriously needs to work on their "High Tea" menu items.

The service was virtually non existent and having "High Tea" at the coffee shop is a bad idea.

Not recommended.

Room Tip: Lovely sunset from the pool and sky lounge. You might get pushed away by the wedding photographers...

Where ever my readers would be and whatever your mode of travel; there is this place on earth
that serves an excellent Breakfast to make you feel at home. Travelers from any land mass on this planet would be surprised that there would be something they could enjoy at Breakfast at the Kingsbury.
My respects to the menu planers. On the day I sat to breakfast there were many nationalities
enjoying something from 'home' at BF. This is a meal hotel guest rarely miss before rushing in to the day. It is evident that the 'planer' mixes sincerity & hospitality well. Congratulations you will never fail.

the pros: excellent location - its very close to the worldtrade center and some great restaurants (dutch hospital), well appointed rooms with super comfortable beds
the cons: staff overwhelmed during the buffet breakfast - long queues on every counter!, food could be better for the price

Room Tip: Ask for sea facing rooms on the higher floors

if you want bling the kingsbury is ok,if you want to be stared at as if you come from another planet then its ok, we had dinner at the kingsbury but first I asked if I could book a table at the skylounge,i was told no booking are made at the lounge,on arriving we noticed at least 10 tables reserved. if you want dinner in the ocean restaurant be prepared for a long for a long wait lots of staff doing nothing but stare oh yes and rotten coffee.

Polite and helpful staff. Great location....but no room service menu in room, modest mini bar and average bar downstairs equates to 3.5 stars, not 4. I am sure with work it can improve from being clearly a business hotel to a holiday one as well.

Excellent hotel. Good rooms, nice decor, good house keeping and good food. Amazed to find Bvlgari toiletries in the bathroom. The hotel lobby is very impressive. The buffet spread is lavish. One can find all type of cuisines. I had little problem with the delay in egg preparation as there was only one person making it, but was very happy to find my problem not only sorted out in minutes but to find chef and manager at my table apologizing. Even the Gym at the basement was also very good. Wholeheartedly would recommend it.

A large, busy, but well appointed hotel.

Stayed for one night, and it was heaving. They were full, and their service suffered somewhat. We had to wait for 20 minutes to get our room as it was still be cleaned (at 1630 in the afternoon).

The room was comfortable (smelt slightly like cigarettes - a non-smoking room so probably used to be a smoking room). Room service was efficient and the view from the bed was excellent. A nice relaxing stay (once we had got passed the hoards in the lobby).

The skybar was a nice addition, very chic. It lacked any character, and could be any sky bar in any hotel in any capital city.
