Its like any other church in Europe apart from the floor converted into graves of their priests and important people.

All you can see is graves, graves and more graves.

One of the must-see places in Colombo this Protestant church is still preserved in its antique state, complete with old wooden benches and desks, the old pulpit and the piano-sized hand- and foot-operated pipe organ with the manual bellows in its rear. This heritage structure seems to be neglected and needs to be preserved with greater care and reverence so it could draw more visitors.

This church is in a locality not oft visited by Tourists. In the middle of this area, on a hill overlooking Colombo, stands the majestic Wolvendaal Church. Built in 1749, it is one of the oldest Protestant churches

A lot of history preserved in this ancient Dutch era Church. Church staff very helpful in narrating the history of the Church.

This church was built in the 18th century during the Dutch occupation of Ceylon. It is a wonderful example of Hollandic architecture and has tablets on the wall and is paved with the tombstones of ancient Dutch parishioners. The cordoned off section in which prisoners were brought in to participate in the worship is still there as are the original ebony pews and pulpit, which overlooks the congregation. at a high elevation.

The approach is not so great, the church being in the heart of the Pettah, which is now the precinct of vendors but during the Dutch era, was a residential area of the elite.

Well worth a visit.
