I was surprised to know that they still hold services in this ancient church. Despite being over 250 years old there is door with an ancient lock that still functions! The caretaker took us on a tour of the church, it is quite an experience to view the ancient choir pews, the benches where the congregation sat, the pulpit and the pipe organ which is sadly not functional.

Had to visit the church for a assignment, and found a quaint church in the middle of pettah hidden by the busy hustle and bustle.

The church dates back to the dutch period and caught me by suprise, the church is a dated but is kept in good condition. It still carries the old school church organ.

I took many pictures and the brother present at the time was very helpful with the lighting.

Probably the oldest dutch reformed church in Sri Lanka. Address is: Wolvendaal Lane Pettah, Col 11. Open from 9am-3.30pm

This church was recommended to us for a visit. There was no one else there and the admission "fee" was a miniscule donation. We took lots of pictures inside and out as it is a true oasis of calm and historical importance in this overly busy city. I sat in the pews and explored every area of the interior, trying to imagine the congregants sitting where I was, hundreds of years ago.

This church dates back to the dutch period and is definitely worth a visit. One of the oldest dutch reformed churches with an interesting history.
