“Great Old Church In Colombo”
Reviewed March 7, 2012

This is a real gem in Pettah. It still holds services amd the friendly curator will show you around. Make sure your driver really knows where it is as they will try and pass off another church if they are not too sure where it is.

“Dutch gift”
Reviewed March 5, 2012

Still unique and beautiful and definitely a must-see if one fancies buildings of this era circa 18th century

“Good enough for a quick visit”
Reviewed January 18, 2012

There is not so much to see, walk around for a minute or 5-10. Nice explanation of the graveyard stones by the local guide.

“Little seen slice of history”
Reviewed January 8, 2012

Great curator takes you through the history of this church and the flagstones detailing the deaths of its early churchgoers. Nothing else around, so ask your tuktuk to wait.

“A must visit when in Pettah”
Reviewed December 28, 2011

Pettah is close to the Colombo Harbour, and the 1st place that most items arrive in Sri Lanka. A walk through Pettah is quite an experience, and you can get quite a few bargains. Wear light cotton clothes and closed shoes as it could get quite warm and dusty.

The Wolvendaal Church has been built over 250 years ago and the oldest tomb stone is dated 1668! There is a tour guide on site or you could speak to the caretaker who has a wealth of knowledge. He could even read Dutch!

It is a place you should spent at least 1 hour at.
