I stayed in this hotel almost 1 week.
For my each business trip, I personally believe Hi-Speed Wifi and comfortable guest room chair is important.
I think this hotel's wifi is very good, almost everywhere you can connect Wifi.
In addition, I notice that guest room has very famous office task chair "ZODY" by Haworth.
It is very comfortable and never tired even though 2 or 3hours sitting on the chair...
The food of each restaurant is very good, especially, I was so impressed to see the service of Teppanyaki restaurant.
however, unfortunately, in the guest room, no iPhone docking station for battery charge and sofa is very dated, maybe the single lounge sofa and ottoman is needed for good rest. Anyway, I think this hotel is very best in UB and want to stay in this hotel again!

Very friendly and attentive staff willing to help with any request. The restaurants in the hotel are good and offer a variety of meal options. The location is just okay (near the busiest part of the city and away from the CBD). Rooms are nice, perhaps a bit dated. Gym is clean with well maintained equipment. Good value by western standards, overall highly recommended.

I stayed at the Kempinski UB from December 27 to February 8.
Although designated 4* (I believe ?) the service and attention to detail is more that 5 Star !
The Management is very involved and you see the Hotel's Director and the F&B Manager around all the time, from early morning to late night, making sure that all is running smoothly.
The Mongolian staff is so friendly and eager to please, everything is done with an authentic smile, from the heart. Already after a week or so, when you are a regular guest here, they remember you r name and what your favorite coffee in the morning or drink in the evening is. I had all my meals here at one of the three restaurants and honestly I can say, I never got bored; choice is excellent and ingredients top class
Laundry service is excellent and fast, never had any problems whatsoever in 43 days.
For UB, this is the only hotel I could recommend to a business or vacation traveler. You'll know that you are in good hands. For our work we needed a conference / meeting room and the GM had a very good solution for us, which helped us to get the work done !
Bravo to Jens and his fantastic team ! I should be back here more often.

I was initially disappointed when i saw the hotel, because it certainly doesn't look like a kempinski or 5 star anywhere else i have stayed. the location too seemed far from the center (a good 20 minutes walk in -32 degrees). however first impressions are not always correct. the room was good (no view though but thats just due to drab ub) and the facilities adequate. i had an emergency and had to leave early and the staff - from the gm to the front desk personnel ran around and changed flights for me, even to the extent of the front desk lady paying herself for the ticket change fee and even coming in on her day off to ensure that i got the ticket and passport. the gm was instrumental in arranging everything and very sympathetic too. In short, Service can be keep in a international standard. The Room is big enough but it seems a little bit old. Location is also very good.

My partner and I spent four days in Mongolia, two nights of them at the Kempinski Hotel Khan Palace Hotel. I was going to choose "very good," but for Mongolia this hotel deserves "excellent."

In Mongolia, the concept of service is pretty much unknown. (For example, visit the State Department Store souvenir floor, where they impatiently snap their fingers at you for your credit card while gossiping with fellow cashiers!) So it was nice to get what you paid for in terms of service at the Kempinski: a friendly welcome, efficient service, a clean, comfortable and secure room, a quiet environment, helpful advice, and a very good breakfast buffet.

The hotel is near - but still quite removed from - the seedy but fun-looking nightlife area which is a little further up the hill, and about 40 minutes' walk from the center of Ulaanbaatar. Still, there are plenty of shops and restaurants only a few minutes' walk away (in the other direction from the nightlife area). And Ulaanbaatar seemed as safe as houses to us walking around at night.

The Kempinski is about 25 minutes' taxi ride from the airport (although traffic in Ulaanbaatar is so unbelievably congested and chaotic that there's no guarantee!)

Nice personal touch; very friendly welcome and always smiley faces from the reception.

My room was a bit awkard, twin-bedded and with a very strange layout consisting of a pretty large room and the placement of the desk in a somewhat dead end of the room.

The carpeting was not well done as the cables could clearly be seen under it; maybe the reason for me losing the bedside lamp electricity one evening and the TV the next morning. The room was otherwise well appointed with a nice TV with good station selection. The bathroom was also of a good size although the white-in white made it feel very cold and somewhat hospital-like. I enjoyed the shower once I had figured out how to shift the showerhead to a comfortable position.

I had dinner at the Mongolian restaurant, very nice, however be aware of the dumpling sizes (they are huge and not to be compared with Chinese dumplings). I loved the Mongolian soup, very nice. Good service and nice cold local beer.

Breakfast (included in my room) was a real treat, excellent choice with fabulous fruit and loads of fresh juices.

Here some other awkward and slightly worriying bits; my room safe was just "stuck" in the top of the wardrobe; I could safely store my belongings in there but anybody could just take the whole safe with them as it was not fixed into the wall. I mentioned this to reception at check-out and the friendly staff only muttered "everybody says that ..."; hello, this may be an opportunity to make the storing of valuables a little safer. Also, the door chain in my room was there but not fixed to the frame; what is that?

All in all, a much better choice than Corporate.

As others have said, not a 5 star but probably as good as it gets in UB until the big boys arrive.

Having stayed so many other Kempinski hotels elsewhere, not exactly the same standards, this place is probably one of the best choice of luxury hotel in Mongolia (beside wild nature).

Location is little outside from center, and it would be difficult to walk to Sukhbaator square, Monestary etc, but by public transport, it can be manageable.

Room is very spacious and tidy, breakfast buffet and restaurant menu (now introducing new chef's cuisine - simply wonderful), I almost forgot that I was in Mongolia.
