The hotel is not your conventional hotel, apart from the pink obsession the room we had was overlooking the Mekong on the first floor. There is no lift but the stairs are quite manageable. The room itself was different. On entry there was a centre buffet that housed the bar fridge and tea, coffee, kettle and some decent wine glasses, plus other stuff.
The bed was behind the buffet front and central to the window and the view out of the balcony to the Mekong. I did find a few rogue springs finding their way into my back. The shower was in the corner with a sliding Perspex curved closure. There was a sink on the opposite side and a toilet (with a door) in the corner.
Breakfast was at the Spirithouse next door owned by the same people. Quite good with a choice of 2 options, one, eggs, cereal, coffee or tea, the other continental.
One of the highlights each night is watching the pop up restaurants across the road. Amazing food, very cheap and highlighting seafood. A wander through is a must do.
The hotel is quite central and a relative easy 15 minute walk to the night market and the main drag. Well worth the experience.

Room Tip: A front room facing the Mekong

When we entered the "lobby" of the hotel I was not really ethousiastic. But the rooms were great. It is not everybody's taste but very comfortable and stylish "Madmen" .. Service was great and staff very friendly. I would certainly come back here. Beautifull view on the Mekong River.

Room Tip: First fkooit is pink. Second light blue.

Very nice hotel on the banks of the Mekong River. Rooms looking to the other side of the river: Thailand. Rooms are very beautifull with a small kitchenette for making a breakfast. The restaurant next door has a nice terras and serves good food.

Room Tip: Take a room with riverview.

We stayed for one night at the Beau Rivage at the end of our trip through Vietnam and Laos.

Location:
=======
Right on the river in the area of the night market. It's a small hotel.

Room:
=====
This is not your standard hotel room (we had a river view). The bed is in the middle of the room, there is an open bathroom with a large bath & shower with glass curtain (take care when leaving the shower, it is not recommended if you in any way have problems with mobility). Bath is not private so it is not suitable for non couples. The toilet is in a separate room. There are 2 racks for suitcases, for the first time in 3 weeks (yes!!!!). Fridge. A/c and fan which only work when the key is in the room. There are two tables and chairs facing the river, one close to two sockets which would accept European two pin grounded & American two pin (non grounded) plugs, voltage is 230/240V. One socket would not hold the European plug (fell out), maybe it's better with US plug as they are lighter. Two more electrical sockets near the wash basin. No hair dryer. No safe deposit box. As a whole a room with lots of character (in a good way). We loved it.

Breakfast:
========
Breakfast is at the restaurant (Spirit House) next door. You can order two items from the menu e.g. Fruit bowl, two eggs with toast, "Scandinavian" croissant and butter and jam, muesli with milk. Glass of orange juice (freshly pressed) plus coffee or tea. Limited but tasty. For more items you pay. Eggs over easy they did not manage, over medium as most of the time in Laos.

Reception:
=========
Very friendly. Late check-out was US$34 extra (extension from noon to 5 pm). So that was a "No, thanks." for us, but they did hold the luggage for us.

Don't be misled by the uninspirational façade of the building, nor by its colour. Once inside you will be amazed by the exquisite and tastefull decorated rooms, with everything you"ll need (including quite fasr wifi), and a (small) veranda, overlooking the mighty Mekong. Australian owner Gordon will help you finding your way around. Have a nice lunch and/or diner, of just a beer at the terrace of the neighboring Spirithouse and you"ll have a great Vientiane-stay.

This place is fantastic. Really clean, lovely rooms. Staff are friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Breakfast is served in the restaurant next door and was very good. As an added bonus there is free wifi and guests can borrow bicycles for free (no helmets for those that care). I highly recommend for anyone travelling on a medium budget: I paid $51US for a double room with breakfast.

Great little hotel right on the banks of the Mekong.Room decor and layout brilliant with full window wall overlooking the river and night food stalls.Location,service, first rate.Breakfast next door which was excellent.Overall the impression was of a family run hotel,not an impersonal multinational.
