I stay here on a regular basis and find it comfortable and reasonably priced, it has a pool but sometimes it is taken over by children who are not staying there and soak everything that you take near the area, great service but agree with some reviews that the sound proofing is poor and the noise starts fairly early, I think the renovations are complete, overall good value hotel for Vientiane

In the past two years I stayed here perhaps 20 times or more. The Chanthapanya became my home in Vientiane and I was very happy here, but recently they have upgraded all their Standard rooms to match the Superior spec, and the price of the cheapest rooms has gone up $20 to something near $60, so I cannot afford to stay here any more! Moreover at this price comes higher expectations, and I am not sure the refurbished rooms really offer much more - they're the same size, and the old rooms had everything needed! So I could not recommend this hotel to other people as strongly as I used to do. I think the value fo money is now only so-so; for budget-conscious travellers there are other reasonable hotels nearby at $40 or less for a spacious double room.

Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and just loved it. Judging from what i've seen around vientiane, I think this is one of the best hotel in the city.

Before travelling, I had previously booked another hotel in vientiane but had soon regret after reading some bad and frightful reviews of the hotel I booked a few days before my travel date. I swiftly cancelled the said hotel and searched frantically for a new accomodation online. Luckily I came across Chanthapanya and after reading so so reviews and lack of time, i decided to book it.

As my cab drove passed the hotel that i had cancelled, I was glad that i had cancelled it. Then, when i arrived in Chanthapanya, I was all smiles. The hotel looked really nice and clean. The staff are not as bad as the reviews said. The room is nicely decorated and the beds are comfortable. The bath is clean and the air condition is working fine. The pool was a good plus overlooking the gym which was quite well equiped.

The only bad thing about this hotel is that it was under construction when i was there and we can hear the banging and drilling. I believe the hotel is expanding and constructing a new wing. But they did try not to bother the customers and tried doing the banging and drilling in the afternoon.

Breakfast was not as bad as I thought it would be and the staff at the restaurant were very attentive and helpful.

I will definately stay in this hotel again.

We stayed here 1 night and it was all okay but not special. Room (1800 thb incl breakfast) nice but bathroom very small. Staff friendly but not experienced (we had to tell the bellboy the direction to our room....). With lower prices this would be a great place to stay.

Stayed here for a week all up. Nice pool - which was why we picked this place, because it is a little expensive for Vientiane.
Family room was large and clean. Wooden floors, balcony, big shower and a bath. All very clean.
You can sleep with the air con off and the balcony doors open - there are fly screens on the doors so no mosquitoes.
Staff seem to be bored witless, and aren't very interested. However, if you put in some effort (more then usually needed), you can get some of them to acknowledge and interact with you.
Good location - you can walk to everything.
Breakfast mediocre - but you can have noodle soup or eggs made to order which is great.
Lots of western business people here.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony so you can turn the air con off and sleep with the doors open - they have...

Not a cheap hotel for quality. I had a standard room. I had to ask for my dirty sheet to be changed on arrival. The ceiling in the bathroom had mildew due to poor ventilation. Staff were friendly.
