The service in Mali Namphu is Very Good, we arrived here with no reservations and it was already almost dark, the receptionists welcomed us and gladly showed us their available rooms, we got the rooms outside near the courtyard, the rooms were spacious, the A/C and Hot/Cold were working fine. The receptionists never failed to answer any of our questions, from where to eat and on how to get around the city, they gladly answered my queries.

Their staff never failed to smile.

Breakfast was also delightful, due to the setup of the courtyard/garden it feels romantic.

Room Tip: Their breakfast consists of selecting 2 meals per person, choose wisely or ask the waiter on what he recommends.

The bedroom and bathroom don't justify the price as you can get similarly sized and equipped rooms in Vientiane for US$10 - 15/night less. The mattress is more comfortable than the generally hard beds in this region. The bathroom door is a bit flimsy and there weren't enough hooks to hang clothes or towels. However, room and bathroom are clean. 2 small bottles of mineral water are provided daily. The LCD TV with international channels and a small fridge add to the value of the package.

Many are willing to pay a little more to stay here for the center courtyard where the guests have breakfast or have a Beer Lao in the evening, the multiple-choice breakfast which consists of local and western dishes and makes breakfast more interesting, the free use of security locker in the lobby, three computers with internet access in the lobby for guests' use, free wi-fi access, and slightly above average service quality. The manger, Mr. Noi, and the staff are friendly. Most of the staff are able to communicate well in English.

The location is near the fountain which is currently under renovation. There are many restaurants, cafes, and other shops nearby. Mekong River is just a 10-minute walk. This is quiet at night which is good for light sleepers.

Namphu Cafe, a local restaurant on the right across the hotel, serves very good rice noodle soup with braised duck or crispy pork.

Room Tip: If you don't like to walk the stairs, get a room on the ground level which costs slightly more.

Nice place to stay while in Vientiane. Location is good, rooms are big, bathroom ok (good shower, clean, little to small, door doesn't close). Staff has it moments, some are nice some don't understand that hospitality is part of the job. Breakfast is good and served in nice courtyard. Make sure you don't get stuck in a room with 'blind wall' view if you booked differently. In room wifi which is good enough. Would stay here again, it is value for money

This is a very pleasant guesthouse (really, more of a hotel) in a great, central location on a quiet street in the centre of Vientiane. Within less than a minute's walk there's a big selection of good restaurants, bakeries and shops, as well as banks, massage, hairdressers etc. I stayed on the 4th (and highest) floor of the front building and the room was fresh and clean with the best bathroom I'd had in my entire trip through Laos. Breakfast was adequate and the staff were lovely. The biggest negative for this guesthouse is that there isn't an elevator so it's a fair number of steps up to the rooms on the higher floors. That's the only thing that caused me to rate this property a 'very good' rather than an 'excellent'.

Room Tip: If you can't manage steps, make sure you ask for a ground floor room when you make your booking.
