The bedroom and bathroom don't justify the price as you can get similarly sized and equipped rooms in Vientiane for US$10 - 15/night less. The mattress is more comfortable than the generally hard beds in this region. The bathroom door is a bit flimsy and there weren't enough hooks to hang clothes or towels. However, room and bathroom are clean. 2 small bottles of mineral water are provided daily. The LCD TV with international channels and a small fridge add to the value of the package.
Many are willing to pay a little more to stay here for the center courtyard where the guests have breakfast or have a Beer Lao in the evening, the multiple-choice breakfast which consists of local and western dishes and makes breakfast more interesting, the free use of security locker in the lobby, three computers with internet access in the lobby for guests' use, free wi-fi access, and slightly above average service quality. The manger, Mr. Noi, and the staff are friendly. Most of the staff are able to communicate well in English.
The location is near the fountain which is currently under renovation. There are many restaurants, cafes, and other shops nearby. Mekong River is just a 10-minute walk. This is quiet at night which is good for light sleepers.
Namphu Cafe, a local restaurant on the right across the hotel, serves very good rice noodle soup with braised duck or crispy pork.
