“Very basic, dark, not really worth it”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

I found Vientiane pricey anyway, but this was cheaper than everything else. It shows, we are not glamourous travellers and the room had air con and a (teeny, tiny) tv so no real complaints. Very basic. My complaint is with the management really. We arrived and they knew nothing about our booking from booking.com. We had to tell him everything and in the end he kept upping the price. We had booked a double bed and yet we arrived to a very tired room with two single beds. We had asked how much a taxi to the airport was and he started with 80 000Lak. Later we decided to just book it, there was a younger man at the desk and he gave us 60000LAk> so we booked for the next morning. While we waited that morning, it was very heavy rain. We were early and the guy points to a tuk tuk out the front with a guy sweeping off the rain. We had specified a taxi, especially in the rain and he just kept saying that was the taxi and that it would be 60. Very annoyed, as they were basically saying you won't get a taxi and this was our best bet. They kept laughing at us and speaking to each other in the Laos language, eventually as it was raining hard, we said we'd give the tuk tuk (a friend of the young boys) no more than 40. He agreed, we went to the airport which is close by, but we got soaked, and when we got to the airport he tried to get another 10 out of us- We'd already taken our bags so we just walked away but it wasn't a nice farewell to Laos where we'd had a good couple of weeks.

Room Tip: Probably better to just have a few in mind, and walk around and find out prices. This was one of the...

Rooms are not worth the price. They are old ugly and smelly. AC working bad - after few hours of working you can feel cold. Room is full of strange warnings such as "one scratch on wall - you will pay 800 bahts". They wants your payment right after check in.

We only stayed at this guesthouse for 1 night as we had friends staying at the Aroon Residence around the corner. We read the reviews and saw the pictures so we weren't expecting much It's old, dark, dingey and doesn't feel clean. On top of that we had the air con going all night and it just didn't work, in fact it actually leaked into a bucket that had been placed on top of the wardrobe, this made the room very hot and stuffy. Would definitely not stay here again as we looked at a lot of guesthouses in Vientiane, and for the price there are much better options out there.

Lots of reviews we read of this place gave high marks on the "you get what they'll say you get" view...which is fair enough. We found it to be ok. Yes it's clean, and has the limited facilities it claims to, and the price is low, but overall the rooms are still very basic, and a little shoddy, which undermines the cleanliness.

The location is ok, but we're pretty confident that for the same money you could find a nicer room in a better location.

I stayed in a fan room wich is rather spacious, bed is big and comfortable, linen seems new and clean. Very clean guesthouse, all day long you can meet cleaning ladys in one place or another. The area is quite, but in 10 minutes you can reach Megkong river. There are lots of local cafes nearby, lundary service places and a pharmacy. The staff is nice an ready to help but not too persistent. The only problem was that the toilet in the room didn't flash automatically.

Perfect guest house located in the city center and ten minutes away from the crowded area + Wifi is included.
Staff is very nice.

I believe a review should be related to what you get for a price, and to the matching (or not matching) to the description provided.
