“Its rundown but still very nice”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

It was only last year that I went into this museum from living in Vientiane for 9 years. Its run down but there are heaps of information and items to look at. It took me a good 2 hours to walk around the museum to see everything. Try to get there in the morning as there isn't much air flow through the building and if it is high temperature then it will be hot.

“Good informative museum which needs urgent financial support from travellers”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

This museum reminds of many of the museum's i used to visit just after the 'wall' came down back in eastern europe.

Please don't expect full air- conditioned luxury and state of the art exhibitions. It is very basic but very informative providing the visitor with a basic understanding of the history, culture and politics of Laos.

“What do you expect?”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

Super cheap, hugely informative on aspects of Laos politics and archaeology one would otherwise not know about, aircon on the second floor. This is not a big budget museum but if you want that sort of thing you probably shouldn't be in Laos to start with. Well worth a visit.

“I don't have a clue what people expect for 80p.........”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

Had an absolutely wonderful time in this very well set out museum.

Showed a lot of fascinating exhibits, understandable transcripts and organised in time order.

Plenty to look at, loads of history covered too.

Quite what a lot of people below were expecting before attending the museum is beyond me. People are far too quick sadly to write a shocking review than give anywhere credit in this day and age, indicative of the world we live in.

Even if you disagree with my review, is it really worth giving a history museum in Laos a 1/5 AWFUL review and put people off going? It's 80p for goodness sake.

“UPDATE: they have improved this place immensely ”
Reviewed February 13, 2014 via mobile

Visited today and they must have put in a ton of work since the last reviewers visited. Amazing artifacts, well laid out floor plan, and air con on the second floor. Seriously, the archaeological section of this museum is one of the best I've seen outside of the British Museum in Cairo. Well worth a visit.
