If you want to meet people and make new friends from all areas of the world Sihome is the place to stay. Not only do they have great food and friendly staff you can't go wrong with the air con movie room (which me and a friend have slept in when we had nowhere to stay) best of both worlds if you want to chill in the movie room after the horrid bus journeys or play some beer pong next to the pool table with the music up.

after travelling in the south of Laos it was really nice to come to Vientiane and find civilisation. The staff at reception can speak english which makes things a lot easier and are willing to help show you around. The atmosphere is really cool and relaxed, our first night we got dragged into a game of beer pong and theres free vodka every night after 9pm (Laos vodka though) the movie room is spacious and comfortable but unfortunately the tv didnt work whilst we stayed. We had a 4 bed dorm room which was clean and air conditioned. Each bed comes with a lamp and a plug socket which is very rare for Laos! Also each bed had private storage lockers underneath them, annoyingly with the dorm rooms there are no keys so the doors are never locked which means the lockers do come in handy! As with all hostels the food and drinks are slightly overpriced but good quality. Overall very spacious and open and a cool place to hang out.

Stayed here for two nights at the end of our trip and have to say the mattresses were the most uncomfortable we stayed on in all of Asia. Bathroom smelt of sewage, and food there was mixed - but I won't complain about the free breakfast as its a bonus. Great atmosphere made the stay worthwhile and the social areas are excellent. funky wall murals were nice too. worth it.

The dorms are great, the atmosphere is cool. There is a pool table and a padded tv room to hang out. The included breakfast is delicious.
I had one night in a room though with 3 others and the bathroom door could not shut.
Becareful with the tours and bus services they offer, you can find them cheaper.

The good
- Very centrally located. The main stretch of town is less than a 5 minute walk away
- The staff are friendly enough, although more reactive than proactive

The bad
- It's loud. Sound carries. During the day construction noises were common, at night the sound of backpackers coming home late.
- The rooms are showing serious signs of wear. The walls were stained, part of the bathroom door had been broken, and a pipe was leaking by the toilet.
- A nitpick, but the maps they provide are truly awful. You're almost better off wandering versus trying to make sense of them.

The ugly
- The mattresses. Of over 100 hostels and hotels I have stayed in, they were the hardest, bar none. .

Overall, outside of the dorm rooms (which I did not stay in), I think there are likely better options at a similar price in Vientiane.

It was a really nice stay in Sihome! Free Billard/Pool, cheap beer, cool movie room. The dorm room got good beds and AC / fan. There is also free breakfast included, even on arrival before you can check in... Real friendly staff as well. Cheers!

4 of us stayed here in a dorm room of 8. Rooms were good, hot showers, could have done with a few more toilets on the top floor though. Free breakfast was good (but don't get the pancakes!!) and staff were really friendly and helpful - we booked a visa and bus for Vietnam with them and had no problems.
