“Not impressed!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2013

Read a bit online concerning magic hands massage. The welcoming was nice, with a tea and a selection of oils offered to us. I asked for a female instead of a male, but a male came down to do the massage. After a bit of hassling I got a woman to do the massage. After having a few good massages, this was one of the least. Mechanical, without feeling and inspiration I was being massaged. I thought I just had the wrong person on the wrong day, however the buddy I was travellin with was also far from being impressed. Wouldn't recommend this place.

“The best foot massage in S/E Asia”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

The staff here were exceptionally welcoming and the atmosphere inside a little oasis of calm. My first impression of my masseur Ton was that he couldn't be old enough to know what he was doing. It turns out I was very wrong - he has been doing this for 7 years, now teaches others and the massage was without doubt the best I have ever had.
Some foot massages seem more a pain endurance test. This was firm work but extremely relaxing - a perfect mix.

“Massage at the end of the world”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2012

There are a lot of mediocre massage places in Laos, this place is one of the best I have discovered. Laos massage is NOT Thai massage, so dont go expecting a workout. Laos massage is as soft and subtle as the Laos people themselves. I took a facial and foot and shoulders massage as instructed by her sign outside which urged people to be prepared to meet their maker for the end of the world.

“Good, but not 'magical'”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2012

Headed to Magic Hands after 40+ hours of flying and needed to massage out some kinks. I've visited several other massage places in Vientiane on previous trips, but was led to Magic Hands after reading tripadvisor reviews. Overall, an ok traditional Lao massage (one hour, 50,000kip or approx 7USD). Despite agreeing to 'strong' (vs 'soft') massage, the massage still felt weak and relaxing vs therapeutic. nothing bad just not fab. Nice, friendly staff (as most are in this country).

“Never had an aromatic oil message? Try here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

Some people seem reticent about experiencing the benefits of Asian massage, thinking perhaps that their personal integrity will be breached, or their wallet plundered. For those, as well as for the experienced, I suggest they visit this shop in the very centre of Vientiane (one of the main streets, opposite the Lao Development Bank). A very relaxing Lao massage or, my favourite, the aromatic oil, in a calm atmosphere, sets you back less than US$10. Not only that, you can sit afterwards with a free cup of Doum tea and have a chat with the well-travelled, friendly owner. If you're in town for a few days, you'll certainly go back at least once before you leave!
