This was a nice place to have a walk around. There are literally thousands of Buddha statues housed in the buildings around the main temple which is very beautiful and dates from the 1800's
It is situated right across the road from the presidential Palace.

We liked this - a definite improvement on Pha That Luang. If you've not seen enough buddhas so far then this will help in your quest!

The oldest surviving Wat in Vientiane. What more can I say, it's not too big nor was it very crowded we had a wander around and sat and enjoyed the peace and quiet. They are just beginning to renovate.

Though not extensive compared to others, this is worth a visit especially if you have someone (eg a guide) with you who can talk you through some of the history.

This temple was the only temple in Vientiane not destroyed in 1826 by the Thai Army, probably because it was built in Thai style.
This temple has a very strong attraction among the Isaan (Northeast Thai in Thailand) which disturbs the modern Thai Government. The Lao Government has built a replica of Wat Sisaket next to the real wat, and diverts Thai tourists to the replica.
