“WOW. Most interesting Wat grounds I've visited”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

This is an amazing sight. In addition to the large gold stupa (with a grotto and small altars in all directions), there are several buildings to visit and a intricately painted wat to the right of the stupa. I wish that we had a guide to tell us more about the murals, but know that they have to do with Buddhist teachings. The whole compound was breathtaking.

“Don't Bother Going Inside”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

There's little to see inside. Save your money and get your pictures from outside. You can't go inside the stupa so all you do is walk around the perimeter.

“Festival weekend yay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

Yes lucky enough to be in town when the full moon festival was on thousands of families in traditional dress. Monks receiving alms, lots of colour & spectacle..

“Enjoyable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014

The Stupa itself is very small and can be seen quite quickly. But it is surrounded by monasteries and other temples which make it very worthwhile. The reclining Buddha is impressive. Recommended as the first stop in Vientiane.

“A bit out of town”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2013

The temple was a bit disappointing as it is in need of a fresh coat of paint and something you will get used to if wandering around the city is that most of the attractions close between 12-1pm so timing is a bit important if you are going to make your way out here. The temple is good though I just with that the money that you pay to see a site was spent on keeping that actual site worth seeing and not going into a new temple of the same grounds.
