“Luang Prabang gets all the buzz, but Vientiane is the real gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

This is a very calm, serene city that has a lot to offer. We came here for the airport connection, but found the vibe here to our liking. Many good places to stay for $40 to 80 a night, great cafes, restaurants and giant temples. The impact of other tourist here is pleasant, not crowded or frantic. A relief after the nonstop traffic of Hanoi.

“relaxed days in Vien Tien”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

I visited Vien Tien with my boyfriend and a friend in february during the chinese New Year. We stayed there for 5 days. For those who have visited Vien Tien, they know that there aren't many things to see around! I could say that you can even visit all sights in 1 day! Nevertheless the city is very beautiful and it's a nice place to relax! During our stay there we spend many afternoons at the City Bar Restaurant. why? Well, we went once ... and then we kept going! Very good food, prices and excellent service (something that you really miss when you travel around Asia) But, what kept us going was the atmosphere! Nice and simple decoration, very clean and ... of course... a brand new pool table! The owners, staff and local customers are all friends and make you feel like you are part of the team, as well! Very nice people and i'm very happy I met them! We had a great time there and if I ever go back to Lao I will definitely go by for a beer!

“Good food but little to do”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

Vientiane as a capital has limited sights to offer. When you want to explore Laos it is a good starting point but within a couple of days you have seen all. Try to get a hotel near the river for some relaxing evenings in one of the bars or restaurants but don't expect too much of the night life.

“A nice place to visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

There are lots of lovely old buildings, markets to explore, good food to be had and cheap drinks. You can walk or bicycle, it's a slower pace than a lot of Asian cities and there's plenty to see.

“Relax and drop out...”

Lovely, sleeply Vietianne...little big town on the Mekong. Great place to perfect the art of "hanging out". Incredible food...everywhere...
