We came here both evenings we were in the capital to watch the sun set on the Mekong. The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful with various activities being played out along the river.
the new road is closed to traffic so it becomes a perfect walkway to stroll along at leisure.
The night market stalls nearby sell cheap but repetitive products like t-shirts and fridge magnets and other tourist stuff. Directly next to this is the seemingly free aerobics exercises en-mass under the large national and party flags, a wonderful symbol of a modernising Laos.

This park is located next to the Mekong and Partly between the restaurants and the mekong river , very nice to wlk and to take photos , also the opportunity to fitness and to have just a drink inside the park , very nice is that no entrance fee is asked and also not have to pay a ticket for parking your bike , the monument , standing man is very nice for once to make a picture and to go arround it

Flags flying, the Mekong River was pretty dry but the locals put the banks to good use by playing the odd soccer game. There is a night market every evening from 5.30pm. Excellent shopping especially childrens clothing, very cheap. Manicurists riding around on their push bikes looking for business. Great playground for the little ones. Drink and food available. Exercise classes are also held, looks like you can just join in on either of the two. Through the day its quiet here but it certainly comes alive in the evenings and it worth a visit. Plus you get to look over the Mekong River to Thailand.

It is lovely to stroll along the riverside, a note of caution though on a Saturday and Sunday evening, it does become very crowded when the night market is in operation

Good and large promonade at the Park. After 5:00 pm, part of the park changes to night market to entertain tourists and the local residents.
